A rule of thumb for knowing when the moon rises
The new moon always rises at sunrise.
The first quarter at noon.
The full moon always rises at sunset.
The last quarter at midnight.
MOON MAGICK : Spells and rituals honoring or involving the element of Fire should be done when the Moon is in either Aries, Leo or Sagittarius. Spells and rituals honoring or involving the Earth or earth healing should be done when the Moon is in either Taurus, Virgo, or Capricorn. Spells and rituals honoring or involving the element of Air should be done when the Moon is in either Gemini, Libra or Aquarius. Spells and rituals honoring or involving the element of Water should be done when the Moon is in either Cancer, Scorpio, or Pisces.
MOON PHASES AND SIGNS : Each month, the Moon waxes and wanes through a period of approximately 29 1/2 days. The waxing moon phase, from New Moon to Full Moon, lasts approximately two weeks. The waning phase, from Full Moon to New Moon, also lasts two weeks. The turning of the moon is further broken down into four parts, called quarters. Each of these four phases has a first half and second half, ultimately breaking the moon's cycle into eight equal parts. The lunar phase is important in determining the best time for Magic. There are basically two lunar phases: The waxing Moon (an ideal time for positive Magic, or "bringing") and the waning Moon (an ideal time for banishing and negative Magick, study, introspection, meditation, and "sending away".). In between you'll have the dark Moon (the best time for banishing and negative Magick) and the full Moon (the best time for positive Magick).
WAXING MOON is from the moment after it is New until the moment it s Full. It is the best time to do spells for growth, beginning new projects, initiation and enhancement. "Increase" is the operative word, just as the moon is increasing. The waxing moon is for Constructive Magic. The proper time to perform healing rituals, positive magick, and spells that increase love, good luck, growth of any kind, sexual desire, and wealth. Magickal Attributes: Invoking Beginnings, new projects, ideas, inspiration, energy, vitality, freedom. ALSO constructive magick, such as love, wealth, success, courage,friendship, luck or health. birth, strength, growth, planting gardens, friendships, harmony, happiness, obtaining things and goals, travel, protection, teaching, weather - working {to bring forth}, and positive change. Love magick and spells for health, good luck and money are traditionally preformed during a waxing moon. In the Godded-oriented tradition of Wicca, this lunar phase corresponds to the Maiden {also Warrioress and Virgin} aspect of the Triple Goddess.
NEW MOON, (the first night of the New Moon to 3 1/2 days after) the Sun and Moon are in the same place relative to Earth, or conjunct. The Moon is between the Sun and the Earth and thereby reflects no light visible from Earth. The Moon is not visible at first, since it rises at the same time as the Sun. The last half of this quarter is called the Crescent Moon (four days into the lunar cycle). Magickal Attributes: starting new ventures, new beginnings. Also love and romance, health or job hunting. "New Moon Magick": Timing: Your Magick should be performed between dawn and sunset for the best use of this Moon. Conjuring: beauty, health, and self-improvement, farms and gardens, job hunting, love and romance, and networking. New Moon workings can be done from the day of the new moon to three-and-a-half days after. Beware of new moons that fall on Saturdays and Sundays, for these are said to be followed by bad luck and foul weather. Old lunar lore from Pagan Britain states that pointing a finger at the new moon invites bad luck into your life. The turning of silver coins in one's pocket to increase wealth is an old act of magick traditionally preformed during a new moon. The first new moon of the year is believed by some to induce prophetic dreams {especially of one's future marriage partner} when a special incantation, such as the following, is thrice recited: "All hail, new moon, all hail to thee! I prithee, good moon, reveal to me, This night who shall my true love be."
The THREE DAYS AFTER THE NEW MOON are the most powerful times to work spells for growth and beginnings which should manifest at the Full Moon.
"CRESCENT MOON MAGICK": (from 3 1/2 nights after the new Moon through the 7th day) Waxing Crescent: Light crescent on right side of Moon.Timing: When the Moon rises at mid-morning and sets after sunset. Conjuring: animals, business, change, emotions, and matriarchal strength.
he FIRST QUARTER (from 7 to 10 days after the new Moon) when the Sun and Moon are at right angles. The right half of the Moon is lit This Half Moon rises about noon and sets around midnight. It can be seen in the western sky during the first half of the night.. First Quarter Magick: (The Waxing Moon) Timing: Sunset is the best time for waxing Moon Magick. Conjuring: courage, elemental Magick, friends, luck, and motivation.
"GIBBOUS MOON MAGICK": (from 10 to 13 days after the new Moon) Three-fourths of the Moon is now lit.Timing: The best time is around 10:00 to 11:00 p.m. Conjuring: patience.
WANING MOON (the Full Moon is waning until it reaches its New phase) Magickal Attributes: wisdom, psychic ability, scrying, reversing circumstances. banishing Releasing the old, removing unwanted negative energies, addiction, illness, or negativity, banish evil influences, lessen or remove obstacles and illness, neutralize enemies, and to remove harm. Here, "decrease" is the operative word, as the moon's light is decreasing. The waning moon is used for banishing magic, for ridding oneself of addictions, illness or negativity. The time from Full Moon, to last quarter, to the New Moon is the proper time to perform destructive magick and spells that remove curses, hexes, and jinxes, end bad relationships, reverse love spells and aphrodisiacs, break bad habits and unhealthy addictions, undo negative influences, and decrease fevers and pains. release, reversal, death and resurrection, healing, wisdom, maturity, counter-magick, liberation, overcoming, weather-working {to quell}, weight loss, real estate {to sell}, and the breaking of addictions, bad habits, and streaks of bad luck. Banishings, bindings, exorcisms, and both the casting and breaking of curses are also traditionally preformed during the waning moon. In the Goddess-oriented traditions of Wicca, this lunar phase corresponds to the Crone aspect of the Triple Goddess, and any Wiccans {especially those who are post-menopausal women} perform Crone {or Dark Goddess} honoring rites when the moon is on the wane. The days JUST BEFORE THE FULL MOON are the most powerful times for fruition and completion.
FULL MOON occurs when the Sun and Moon are opposite one another and the Earth between them. From our vantage point here on Earth, we can see the full reflection of the Sun's rays on the Moon. The Moon can be seen rising in the east at sunset, rising afterwards a little later each evening. The last half of this quarter is known as the Disseminating Moon (3 1/2 days past full). Magickal Attributes: Fruition, Manifesting goals, nurturing, passion, healing, strength, power. ALSO, love, knowledge, legal undertakings, money and dreams. Prime time for rituals for prophecy, protection, divination. Any working that needs extra power, such as help finding a new job or healings for serious conditions, can be done now. Timing: Midnight is the best hour to work. Conjuring: artistic endeavors, beauty, health, and fitness, change and decisions, children, competition, dreams, families, healing, knowledge, legal undertakings, love and romance, money, motivation, protection, psychism, and self-improvement. The period of the Full Moon increases the powers of extrasensory perception, and is the proper time to perform lunar goddess invocations, fertility rituals, increase psychic abilities and prophetic dreams. According to ancient European folklore, the power of the Full Moon can also magically transform man into beast, and beast to man. Prime time for rituals for prophecy, protection, divination. A full moon is said to cause madness in men, and the old saying,"when the Moon's in full, then wit's in the wane" clearly reflects this. In parts of Europe where belief in lycanthropy was once common among royalty and peasantry alike, the full moon was great feared, for its very essence activated the animal transformations n men afflicated with the curse of the a werewolf. Wart-curing spells have been preformed when the moon is full probably since magick was first practiced. Witches in northern England were said to have able to magickally remove any wart from any part of the body simply by blowing their breath upon it in the light of of the full moon. "Washing" ones hands in a well-polished silver basin, filled only with the rays of the half moon, while reciting a magickal incarnation was another method once used by Witches and folk healers to eliminate warts from the fingers and hands. In the Goddess-oriented traditions of Wicca, the full moon corresponds to the Mother aspect of the Triple Goddess, making it the appropriate time for Mother Goddess invocations and all spells and ritual work pertaining to motherhood.
"DISSEMINATING MOON MAGICK": (3 to 7 days after the full Moon) There is a Dark crescent on right side of Moon. Timing: The best time is at 3:00 a.m. Conjuring: addictions, decisions, divorce, emotions, stress, and protection.
The LAST QUARTER (7 to 10 days after the full Moon) The right half of the Moon is now dark when the Sun and Moon are at 90 degrees. This decreasing moon rises at midnight, and can be seen in the east during the last half of the night, reaching the overhead position just about as the Sun rises. The last half of this cycle is called the Balsamic Moon (three or four days before total darkness). Last Quarter Magick: Timing: When the Moon rises at midnight and sets at noon. CONJURING: addictions, divorce, health, healing, banishing disease, stress, and protection.
WANING GIBBOUS:Three-fourths of the Moon is now dark.
"DARK MOON MAGICK": (from 11 to 14 days after the full Moon) (the three nights when the moon is not visible in the sky, just before the beginning of the next lunar cycle, also known as the Balsamic phase.) Timing: The strongest force of the dark Moon is around 10:00 a.m. Conjuring: addictions, change, divorce, enemies, justice, obstacles, quarrels, removal, separation, stopping stalkers, and theft, dealing with attackers, exploring our darkest recesses and understanding our angers and passions. Also bringing justice to bear. Very potent for prophecy work. The Black or Dark Moon is the most auspicious time for banishing and neutralizing spells. It is an ideal time for meditation, vision questing and the planning of future spellwork.
"LUNAR ECLIPSES": Eclipses represent the perfect union of the Sun and Moon. Any type of Magick is acceptable. (There are 2 types of lunar eclipse: Partial eclipse and Penumbral eclipse of the Moon). Since ancient times, eclipses {both lunar and solar} have been regarded by human cultures as the bringers of storms, earthquakes and other furies of Mother Nature, ill luck, bad omens, and even wrath of he gods. Historically, eclipses have presaged the deaths and assassinations of many high ranking political figures, plagues and wars. It is not difficult to see why eclipses have long filled people throughout the world with a sense of dread and have earned such an ominous reputation. Medieval lore and many ancient grimoires warn against the casting of spells or the preforming of any magickal rites on the day or night that an eclipse occurs. Most modern-day spellcrafters continue to heed the advise of the ancients, not because they fear of being struck down from a lighting bolt hurled by some angry god, but instead because of during an eclipse the lunar or solar lines of force are severed, and this results in one's magick being nullified. There are some Pagans who regard an eclipse to be magickally significant and preform rituals during them to draw upon their power. I personally do not see any harm in such a thing, but I for one would never waste my time and energy attempting to carry out magickal workings during an eclipse. But to each his own, as the saying goes.
"MOON VOID OF COURSE": It's said that the Moon is "void of course" before it enters a new Moon sign (such as Cancer, Leo, Virgo, etc...). There is a sort of "dead space" when this is happening. The rule here is to avoid doing any important Magick work while the Moon is in this time. Don't do any major Magick work.
BLACK MOON:A Black Moon is that rare occurrence when the Moon hides her face for a second time in a single Month. This is s fine time to plan for a great new start to a large or very important project.
BLUE MOON:A Blue Moon is that wonderful occurrence when the Full Moon shows us her face twice in one month. Also known as a Goal Moon, it is an excellent time to set new goals for yourself.
MOON IN VIA COMBUSTA: Literally "the path of combustion", the Via Combusta is a section of the zodiac regarded by the ancients as unfortunate, or challenging. The Moon in the Via Combusta tends to have a negative or disrupting effect. It is thought that the period of Via Combusta is 15° Libra through 15° Scorpio in the tropical Zodiac.
ASTROLOGICAL MOON PHASES : The Moon completes a revolution around the Earth every 29 1/2 days, passing through the 12 signs of the zodiac and spending about 2 1/2 days in each sign. A special note here: There is a difference between the actual constellation the moon appears in in the sky and the astrological constellation. For example, your almanac may say that the moon is in Taurus, when actually for astrological purposes, it is in Gemini (30 degrees difference due to the Earth's wobble over time). Therefore, consult an astrological calendar or book for this information instead instead of a common almanac.

MOON WATER TONIC
Tonic waters containing the energies of the moon embody very powerful healing benefits that bring about integral balance and wholeness throughout the body, mind and soul. COLOUR:
YELLOW: Confidence, attraction,
persuasion, charm; says your lover is true, and satisfaction is guaranteed.
Yellow is the colour that is connected to the Solar Plexus, it is a protective
colour, but also the symbol of warmth, joy and wisdom. In colour therapy the
colour yellow is used to stimulate the brain, break through mental blockages,
yellow is a laxative and diuretic. It is used in case of depression, diabetes,
impotence, bladder problems, diseases of the kidneys, gallbladder and liver .
This colour gives one courage and self confidence. In magick yellow is used for
divination, attraction, astral projection and to enhance spiritual wisdom and
power. Yellow: is the colour of intellect and it is used for mental stimulation,
it will help you think quicker. It is good for clearing a foggy head. To help
cure dermatitis and other skin problems and again it must be used carefully
because it is very stimulating and it could cause exhaustion and
depression.
GREEN:
Money, success, luck, health, growth: speaks of news from a distance and/or a
journey be it spiritual or physical (PALE)promises peace of mind.
Green: Is the colour of harmony and balance. It is good for tired nerves and it
helps with the heart area. It will balance the emotions and bring about a
feeling of calmness. Green is a good general healing colour because it
stimulates growth so it is good for helping heal broken bones, regrowth of
tissue of all kinds. Green is a good colour for pregnant women to help create an
atmosphere of serenity and calm. Too much green may create more negative energy
if there is some already present in the person being treated.
GOLD:
Honoring sun gods Gold: is the strongest colour to
help cure all illness. It is so strong that many people are not able to tolerate
it, so people have to be conditioned to gold over a period of time. Gold
strengthens all fields of the body and spirit.
ORANGE:
Energy, also attraction; has a message of minor hiccups and delays
Orange is the colour of the Sexual Chakra, it is a warming colour and orange is
the symbol of movement, joy, wisdom, life force, healing and vitality. In
chromatherapy orange is used for complaints connected with the spleen, pancreas,
thyroid, intestines and also for gall and kidney stones, hernia and
appendicitis. It is also used for emotional problems, depressions, multiple
sclerosis and bronchial tract complaints. In magick the colour orange is used
for attraction, vitality, success, ambition, luck, money magick and attracting
justice. Orange is also a colour of energy. It is used to increase immunity, to
increase sexual potency, to help in all digestive ailments, chest and kidney
diseases. Orange will have a gentle warming effect if used lightly. Orange, like
red should not be used for too long. It is not a good colour for nervy people or
people easily agitated.
RED:
Love, passion, attraction; (bright) warns about losing your temper, (deep)
delivers unexpected good news. Red is the colour that is connected to
the Root chakra, it is the colour of life's force, it is also the colour of our
blood. Red is a stimulating and energizing colour, it is the symbol of deeds,
warmth, fire and rage. In the colour therapy red is used to stimulate the
circulation, it is also used in case of low blood pressure, hypothermia, muscle
aches, anaemia and tuberculosis. Red stimulates deeper emotions like love, hate,
courage, sex and revenge, too much red can aggravate conditions. In magick red
is used to attract love and passion, but also for strength, protection, healing
and courage. Red is the colour of energy, vitality and power. It is used for
burning out cancer, drying up weeping sores or wounds, etc., it will warm cold
