| May 19, 2006; IBM Office, DLF Silokhera, Gurgaon | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| It's been two and a half years with IBM, with learning and experiences from support functions and delivery roles. And all along, I have been blessed with fellow-persons, friends and colleagues. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| I have some feelings that are expressed in the next 'few' lines and pictures. Some quotes, one poem and some thoughts that I felt I should share with you. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| The next few lines are for me | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| Don't be dismayed at good-byes. A farewell is necessary before you can meet again. And meeting again, after moments or lifetimes, is certain for those who are friends. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Nothing makes the earth seem so spacious as to have friends at a distance; they make the latitudes and longitudes. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Why can't we get all the people together in the world that we really like and then just stay together? I guess that wouldn't work. Someone would leave. Someone always leaves and then we have to say good-bye. I hate good-byes. I know what I need. I need more hellos. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| May the road rise up to meet you, may the wind be ever at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face and the rain fall softly on your fields. And until we meet again, May God hold you in the hollow of his hand. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Some of my favorite farewell lines... | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Farewell! a word that must be, and hath been-- A sound which makes us linger;--yet--farewell! - Lord Byron, Childe Harold (canto IV, st. 186) "Farewell!" For in that word--that fatal word--howe'er We promise--hope--believe--there breathes despair. - Lord Byron Fare thee well! and if for ever, Still for ever, fare thee well. - Lord Byron |

| Pulled out some stuff from my Laptop; some relevant quotes, without malice towards one and all... | Don't be irreplaceable. If you can't be replaced, you can't be promoted - (Sid, this is for you !!) | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Accept that some days you are the pigeon and some days the statue - (For all) | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| When you don't know what to do, walk fast and look worried - (For the PM fraternity, PLs, TLs, etc. !) | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| You can go anywhere you want, if you look serious and carry a clipboard - (Another one for the PM fraternity !) | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| When everything is coming your way... you're in the wrong lane - (Anwar, Sid, Sunita, Ranjan...) | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Just following the rules will not get the job done - (Experienced this at many places, sad, but true) | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| Abou Ben Adhem- By Leigh Hunt. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| I have cherished this poem from the day I read it first at the age of 11 or 12. And I remember it to this day. I have lived with this philosophy and will probably always be so. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Abou Ben Adhem (may his tribe increase!) Awoke one night from a deep dream of peace, And saw, within the moonlight in his room, Making it rich, and like a lily in bloom, An Angel writing in a book of gold: Exceeding peace had made Ben Adhem bold, |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| And to the Presence in the room he said, "What writest thou?" The Vision raised its head, And with a look made of all sweet accord Answered, "The names of those who love the Lord. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| I cherish relationships; but may not be the promptest to revert; but rest assured that wherever I am, I will revert sooner or later and promise to be in touch. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| "And is mine one?"; said Abou. ";Nay, not so,"; Replied the Angel. Abou spoke more low, But cheerily still; and said, "I pray thee, then, Write me as one who loves his fellow men. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| The Angel wrote, and vanished. The next night It came again with a great wakening light, And showed the names whom love of God had blessed, And, lo! Ben Adhem's name led all the rest! |
