| Love and Guilt The world rejoiced but why? All they heard was a newborn's cry. A lady smiled even though she's lacking zest, Opened her arms and laid the newborn by her breast. A single cry throughout the night Makes the lady get up with all her might. Though she couldn't have a good night sleep, Every night is a memory to keep. It didn't last that long For this child to grow brave and strong. The grown child left and lived on its own. Together with him was a heart as hard as stone. Under the hot sun, the lady's cheeks were rosy red, Looked down and all the memories came back in her head. As she knelt on the ground, a tear was shed For the baby she once had, now is dead. ~Haidee Dagsil 3/26/98 |
