2005 SAGA Bug Race Rules

1st Annual SAGA Travel Bug RACE

Entries:
1. Each registered geocaching name (the owner) may enter up to 3 Travel Bugs (racers) in the race.
2. Entry fee will be $5.00 per racer (each travel bug).
3. Owners may attach anything they wish to their racers -- maps, cinder blocks, etc.  Keep in mind that the size of the racer may limit the caches it can be placed in.  Instruction tags are encouraged.
4. Attach a new and activated Travel Bug tag to your object, print up your bug sheet, make any attachments, complete the entry form and get your racer to the race organizer along with the entry fee no later than July 24th, 2005.
5. The owner has sole responsibility for creating/updating their racer�s official geocaching.com page.

Race Goals:
1. The primary goal will be to travel from a cache in San Antonio, Texas to be determined by the organizers to
Orchard Road Travel Bug Hotel, GCNAEF, which is located approximately 10 miles from Saga Village in Singapore,  within 365 days.  If no racer reaches the specified primary goal cache within 365 days, the racer closest to the destination cache at midnight on the 365th day will be declared winner of the primary goal.
2. Secondary goals are:  Most caches (no repeat cache visits allowed) visited and most miles traveled (Calculated from last cache physically visited).

Note: Due to the archival of Orchard Road Travle Bug Hotel, the destination cache has been changed to Jurassic Park cache, GCMV0J. (Changed by race owner votes on 2-19-06)

Race Rules:
1. All racers remain the property and responsibility of the owners.
2. All racers will begin the race by being placed in the starting cache by the organizers.
3. Any racer logged into any cache prior to the race start will be disqualified.
4. Upon receipt of your racer by the organizer,
sagabugrace will grab it from you so it can then be placed in the start cache with zero miles.
5. Racers must be physically logged into each cache they visit.
6. Racers may not be logged into virtual or locationless caches.
7. Racers may not be mailed, shipped, transported, faxed, etc by cachers or muggles after the race starts.  Racers should be carried from cache to cache by cachers, but grabs sometimes happen when cachers meet.
8. Owners
may not move their own racer.
9. Owners may move other racers, but will be penalized if judged guilty of impeding another owner�s racer (holding it for more that 7 calendar days before placing it into anther cache) or for intentionally misdirecting it.
10. Owners are encouraged to email holders of their racers to urge them to move it along towards its goal.
11. Race standings/results will be determined from the racers official geocache pages.
12. Organizers reserve the right to deny entry to any race entry found to not be in good taste or within the guidelines of SAGA or geocaching.com
13. Penalties will be assessed for rules violations.


Prizes:
1. Winner of the primary goal will receive 75% of the cash entry pool if the racer reaches the final destination cache.  If no racer reaches the final goal cache within 365 days, the racer closest to the destination cache will receive 50% of the cash entry pool.  The remainder of the cash entry pool will be equally divided among the winners of the secondary goals.
2. If a racer reaches the primary goal earlier than 365 days, the primary prize will be awarded immediately.  The rest of the racers will continue to race until the 365 days expires at which time the two secondary goal prizes and any donated prizes will be awarded.
3. The winner of the primary goal prize is not eligible to win the secondary goal prizes, but is eligible for donated prizes.
4. If other prizes are donated, the winner of the primary goal will have first choice, followed by most miles, then most caches.

Penalties/Rules interpretation/Prize Awards:
1. All penalties assessed will be the sole judgment of the organizing committee and their judgment is final
2. All rules interpretations will be the sole judgment of the organizing committee and their judgment is final
3. All prize awards will be the sole judgment of the organizing committee and their judgment is final.
