DECOR

I have not made very many doilies, not in comparison to my mother, and particularly given the traditional linking of crochet to doilies (at least in the West Indies, where the weather doesn't call for much crocheted afghans or sweaters). However, you can get very complex, interesting patterns for doilies that do grab my attention and other people's work in this area is simply fascinating. And I do like threadwork. I know crochet in decor is not only doilies, but that's about all I have at the moment.

My First Doily - I am not sure how long ago I made this. I was probably in my early teens. My very first doily, no idea of tension (or gauge - I learnt the British way), just went merrily on my way and it ended up several inches wider than the pattern intended. It isn't supposed to hang over this table. But my mother kept it, and it has lasted pretty well.

Daydreams Doily From Fast and Fun Crochet Autumn 2002 (I believe the last issue). I made this using ecru and gold thread, to match my mother's decor, as an Eid present.
