ENGLISH LESSON
Hi guys!
I just finished my first semester examination. it was a great week
because I spent most of my time to prepare for that and now,it is free
time while I’m waiting for my examination result. At this time I’m gonna
share about one of material that include in english syllabus especially
for grade XI. Most of students might be worry to face English
examination because as a foreign language we are usually get
difficulties to learn about English. But don’t worry here I begin to
talk about one of topic in English syllabus for grade XI. Its about
Quoted speech(direct speech) and Report speech (indirect speech). I’m
sure that you’ve learn about that in your English lesson. So, let’s
review about this topic.
what are the different of quoted speech and reported speech?
Quoted speech (direct speech):
-uses the exact words of the speaker
-uses the quotations mark
while reported speech (indirect speech):
-does not use the exact words of the speaker
-doesn’t use quotations mark.
Here are the examples:
QUOTED SPEECH:
1.Nabilla said “I like chocolate.”
2.”My sister birthday on May,” said Kiki.
In reported speech become:
1. Nabilla said that she liked chocolate.
2. Kiki said that her sister birthday on May.
Well after you saw the example above, do you see the other changes?
yeah, look at the example number two: ”My sister birthday
on May,” said Kiki. It became “Kiki said that her sister
birthday on May.”
How about number one?
The tenses of number one has changed from present tense become past
tense.
Below are the list of tenses changed:
* future tense and present tense change to past tense
*past tense shifts to past perfect
*and past perfect doesn’t change.
examples :
“I will buy car” said Nurman.
-Nurman said that he would buy the car
Ratih said,”I write a letter to my Pen-friend.”
-Ratih said that she wrote a letter to her pen-friend.
“I wrapped a gift to my boyfriend”, said Nanda.
-Nanda said that she had wrapped a gift for her boyfriend.
