| 5 days left, 5 days for the furtune of Hasanaat! act now please! And sublicate to Allah by saying "Oh! Allah, Balighna laylat al-qadir"! Todays topic is taking a clip from the day of judgement. Before we talked about the sirat, now well talk about another difficult stage, the clip of the Balance. God sws says [The (Day) of Noise and Clamour; what is the (Day) of Noise and Clamour? And what will explain to thee what the (Day) of Noise and Clamour is? (It is) a Day whereon men will be like moths scattered about, and the mountains will be like carded wool. Then, he whose balance of (good deeds) will be (found) heavy will be in a Life of good pleasure and satisfaction. But he whose balance (of good deeds) will be found light, will have his home in a (bottomless) pit. And what will explain to thee what this is? (It is) a Fire blazing fiercely!] (Al Qaria) God sws says {wal wazn yawma ithan 7aq] Sometimes, in the world there isnt a balance between good deeds and the gains in life, good people may be hurt a lot, but in the day of judgement it will all be balanced. This stage comes before the last stage of the sirat. The balance of the good and bad deeds. I wonder how our balance is, after 25 days of Ramadan? I wonder if you are happy with your balance, or if you wish to have done more good deeds to make up for last year. I wonder if your balance was based on today alone, what your balance would be. Sayida aisha remembering the day of judgement when she was with the prophet, who was sleeping, started crying that the prophet felt her tears on his face and woke up and asked her what was wrong. She said she had remembered the day of judgement and wondered if we will remember those wed loved, and our families and he said yes, except at 3 times when they wont remember anyone but himself; at the sirat, at the time when the books will be thrown to us, and at the balance. The prophet said, everyone will be looking to see what their balance (of good deeds) will be like, will it be heavy or will it be light. Lets look at it now, at the point of the throwing of the books and you wonder if you will catch it in your right or your left hand. The books are flying and no one knows which hand they will receive it in, and then imagine the fear in your heart that it may fall in your left hand, and imagine it falls in your hand in your right hand and imagine your happiness and you start calling to people: [Ah here! Read ye my Record! I did really understand that my Account would (one day) reach me! And he will live a life of Bliss, in a Garden on high, the fruits whereof (will hang in bunches) low and near. Eat and drink ye with full satisfaction; because of the (good) that ye sent before you, in the days that are gone! And he that will be given his Record in his left hand, will say Ah! Would that my record had not been given to me!] (Al Haqqa). Imagine, how some people will be so scared of getting their books that the non-believers will try to hide their hands behind their backs and some will try to cut off their hand so that they dont catch the book but they will still get it. Imagine now, the book is in either the right or the left, then the sirat appears. The Balance will be there, and it will be as wide as the skies and the earth! For it will have to balance every little thing, every smile, every word (subHanaAllah!). Imagine as you are waiting for your book of deeds, then the deeds you have done will all appear in real life. [They will find all that they did, placed before them] (Al kahf) Its not written, it is going to be something you can see, you can feel, you will see yourself as you do the bad deed. Who will see with you? Everyone else. Can you imagine, your mum, your dad, the prophet pbuh, the angels, seeing all of your bads deeds? In front of your eyes? Why not then look at how it will be to see the good deeds - remember the day you took your friends hand and helped them, remember the day you wore the hijab or caused ur freind to contemplate about Hijab? Remember the day that you broke that bottle of alcohol, or gave money to charity or to orphans, imagine the orphans youll see happy with the money you helped them with. Then you will have to pick up the deeds yourself to put it in the good or bad sides, with your own hands [They will find all that they did, placed before them]. How brilliant and how terrifying is this picture? Not only that, but we will be carrying our bad deeds on our backs. [For they bear their burdens on their backs, and evil indeed are the burdens that they bear?] (Anam) Look at what this verse says as well. [They will bear their own burdens, and (other) burdens along with their own] (ankabut) beware you dont encourage people to do bad deeds for you will carry them! Can you imagine what this state will be like? Look at the person who doesnt give money to zakat. The prophet says that on the day of judgement, the man who doesnt give zakat, will have a snake coming to go around his neck, saying to him that he is his money, his treasure, wrapped around his neck. Oh youth, go to your father and ask him whether hes payed his zakat. People might be giving money to sadakah but without the intention to zakat, but you have to pay the 2.5% with this intention of zakat lest you be the ones with the snake around your neck. Not only that, you are standing at the balance and your heart is shivering with fright but then the fasting will come and repent for your deeds in front of God. You will see fasting materialized too! And so will the quran which will also repent for your bad deeds and then they will both land on your good deeds side. Imagine if you are only one bad deed away from not going to hell. Imagine you thinking that that one small good deed you could have done, would have pushed the balance and saved you from hell. Imagine someone who is begging for an extra good deed to get him into heaven. So he runs around everyone begging for an extra deed but everyone is worried about their own balance, then he goes to his own mother and is shocked when he finds her saying no and that is she is worried about herself! Your mother, can you imagine how difficult this situation will be?! [The (Day) of Noise and Clamour; what is the (Day) of Noise and Clamour? And what will explain to thee what the (Day) of Noise and Clamour is? (It is) a Day whereon men will be like moths scattered about, and the mountains will be like carded wool. Then, he whose balance of (good deeds) will be (found) heavy] Why did this sura get called al qaria? The qaria is the harsh sound, a strong beat, because the hearts will beat with whats within it. Were used to our hearts beating hard when were scared, but it will never sound like this clamour until we are at this point. Like the beating of a drum, in your heart! [The Day whereon they will (all) come forth: Not a single thing concerning them is hidden from god. Whose will be the Dominion that Day? That of God, the One, the Irresistible! That day will every soul be requited for what it earned; no injustice will there be that Day, for God is swift in taking account] (ghafer) [Oh! Would I had never taken such a one for a friend!] (furqan) On this day, people will be divided into 2 teams, depending on the colour of their faces, with some peoples faces lightened from the happiness at their good deeds, and others darkened from their bad deeds. Now, lets look at deeds as they are getting put. [We shall set up the scales] (anbiya), are there one or many scales? Some scientists say that there will be many. There may be one for your morals, one for the things you have said, one for your worshipping, one for whether you did anything to succeed islam or not. I wonder if everyone sitting here knows how each of these scales will be? I wonder whose scales will be light and whose heavy in everything. Something that will make you happy now. Im telling you some things which are scary, but also things that will make you happy for this is the topic of tonight, the balance. One of the things that increase the good deeds is sadaka. Whoever gives money as sadaka, as small as a bite of food, will grow and grow until it meets God on the day of judgement so that it becomes as heavy as the mountain of uhud. A sister brought this subject to my attention yesterday for wat to do for Sadaqa jariiya? For muslims who are living Western soceity, think of Middle east, Pakistan, and the needed reformations and renovations that is needed over there! Try to support islamic educational centers, providing books, help providing money to advance technology for student's hands to be put on for Islamic purposes!!), try to open more masaajids, provide masaajids with suitables needs (e.g. buying rugs, etc). Think of Sadaqa jariyaa! The more the resources that u donated are re-used, the more deeds are going to be added to ur mizaan (balance) in the day of judgement) So lets give money as sadaka! What else? Any good which you taught people, remember that hadeeth you once taught someone? Calling people to God. Try to teach Qur`an, the Prophet says, that best of u are the ones who learn Qur`an and teaches it. Another thing that makes your balance heavier the gifts of good deeds you do for people after they, ones which your children may do for you after you die, praying for you, hajj, or omra, these will all add to your own side of good deeds. Oh you people who prevent your children from becoming religious, you need your children for this, if only you knew how much! What else? The hijab! Most women think that its not only the day you put on your hijab, but its not, its every time someone looked at you with the hijab and remembers God, you gain hasanat. And with more fashions and more money and you covering your hair, the more you gain hasanat. But be careful, now well talk about the opposite. The good deeds can all be put onto your balance as high as a mountain and then while youre happy for this, it turns into dust. This is for the people who always obey God in front of everyone, but when they are alone they commit sins. Oh you youth, beware! Why did you do this? Dont disobey God as soon as you are alone! Dont waste your good deeds by disobeying God. Another thing which can make this balance heavier is the Intention. Imagine a woman who had the intention in front of God to bring up her future child as a Salah Al Deen, but then she didnt ever get married or didnt have children for whichever reason, then there will be a Salah el Deen weighing down her Balance of good deeds! Imagine, now, as you are putting in your bad deeds onto the Balance, ashamed of your bad deeds and that everyone can see them materialized. Then you come to the year 2003 and you start putting in these programmes and the Balance becomes heavier with good deeds! I know people whose balance may be wobbly, from where they were kept going back and forth in their beliefs. Then I know others who will be piling on years of good deeds, and smiling away, the prophet happy with him. And then others, putting years of bad deeds, of not praying. Then it comes the time for people who you may have hurt to stand up and come and take what you owe them. Then your good deeds will be taken away from you for what you may have done. Imagine, the most valuable good deeds you have, maybe something from this Ramadan, and it gets taken away from you for something you did to someone. And imagine if not only all your good deeds get taken away, but bad deeds which you did not do get added on! Imagine, you get the sins of sex outside of marriage added onto your own Balance when you did not do it, but because you accused someone else of it! Be careful you dont harm anyone, your good deeds wont last! But there is hope. The prophet pbuh said that everyone will come together on the day of judgement with the person he harmed. The victim will ask God to give him what he is due from the other. So God will ask the other person to give him what he owes but they will say Oh God, my good deeds have run out. So God will say to the victim that his brothers good deeds have run out. So the victim will ask God to then take away from his own bad deeds and add it onto the other persons. Then God will tell him to look up and he sees a huge, magnificent castle and hell ask God whose it is, to which God replies it is for whoever holds the price. He will ask him who this is and God will reply that it is him, if he forgives his brother, and he will reply I forgive him! I forgive him! Then God will say to him to take his brothers hand and go into Heaven together. Forgive people! Be careful about your debts. For the prophet pbuh says that whoever dies with the debt of even a dirham, will have it taken from his hasanat on the day of judgement. So what about the one who owes a million pounds! I wish I would look at the obituaries page in the newspaper and find a message from someone saying that their father had died, and if he had owed anyone money, to come forward with proof so that they may them back. I wish I could see this to save their parents from this on the day of judgement. Try and picture your balance now. Can you see it?! Lets look at what makes your balance heavier: 1 Sadakah giving money to charity 2 - Dawa, calling people to God 3 - 2 words which are light on the tongue, heavy on the scale, loved by the Rahman, sob7an Allah wa bihamdih, sobhan Allah Al atheem. Send messages to all your friends and tell them! Y`all, these words can be uttered while walking, washing dishes, driving! easy wallahii easy! 4 Alhamdolilah - increasing saying it for it fills your Balance 5 - Good morals the prophet pbuh says theres nothing heavier in your Balance than your good morals. Also the Prophet said that the closest people to me are the ones with best morals and the Prophet is the role model for us to follow. 6 - Laylat el qadr [is better than a thousand months]. 7 - La illah illa Allah say it with your heart! I ask God to make our Balance of good deeds heavier! Any concerns, Comments, please email me, also, i would love to know potential topics for after ramadaan! E.G. stuff that u love to learn more about! Let me know! siyaam maqbul inshaAllah, DON'T FORGET TO PRAY FOR THE YOUTH OF THE OMAA! wa salaamu alaykum. |
