| The moon sent the speedy rabbit to earth to deliver a message to humankind. The rabbit was supposed to tell people that human beings must die just as the moon does so that they might be able to one day rise and live again. But the forgetful rabbit remembered only to report that people must die. As a punishment, the moon split the rabbit's upper lip. In great pain, the rabbit sprang into the moon's face and scratched it. This, in turn, explains the scars and pockmarks that you can see when you look up at the moon at night. The poor rabbit, however, was so astonished at his own actions that he ran away and continues to run through the world to this very day. |
