Astronomy is the study of space beyond the Earth and its contents. It is the branch of science that deals with celestial objects and the universe. Astronomy is commonly considered science�s oldest discipline. Its origin stretches back no less than seven thousand years. Initially it was intertwined with astrology. Astronomy includes very specialized fields such as, astrobiology, astrodynamics, astrometry, astronavigation, and astrophysics. Of these, astrophysics is the youngest, but has grown rapidly, becoming very important in modern astronomy. Astrophysics boasts important disciplines, such as radio astronomy, infrared- and ultraviolet astronomy, X-ray astronomy, gamma-ray astronomy, studies of cosmic rays and cosmology. �
