                Project 13
Vivek Darpan Experiment for Rural Masses of Lucknow District.
Sponsored by:
Department of Electronics

Visual aids have been found to be more effective & successful in spreading the messages, as compared to the lectures, demonstrations, and printed leaflets. The advancements made by the electronic media have emerged as powerful communication tool- the relative ease with which the desired messages are transmitted have registered remarkable achievements in bridging the gap between the rich & poor, the urban & rural & the developed & undeveloped. India were 80% of population in rural based, tangible results have not being obtained with the present form of this powerful technology. Prof. Deodhar has developed an appropriate version of this technology to suit the rural requirements. "Project Vivek Darpan" of the Department of  Electronics, Govt., of India, is a trial experiment of this modified technology to enhance the pace of socioeconomic transformation in the rural areas.

ERL Lucknow was one of the 6 NGOs entrusted with the experimental trail, sponsored by the Deptt. of Electronics, New Delhi. The objective was created an awareness among villagers about immunization, adult education, self employment, family planning & promotion of local skills etc. The project commenced its activities in 1991- environmentally backward villages of block Bakshi-Ka-Talab, district Lucknow, were selected & over a period of 3 year each village was to be provided with Sanghmitra Colour T.V. sets, V.C.P. stabilizers & related software. The Deptt. of Electronics is continuously monitoring the project, right from its inception. A detailed impact assessment report on the social status of the selected villages was made for the proper implementation of the project. The results obtained so far, speak of high degree of success!
