SAE-JUNG KIM
Sae-Jung Kim was born in Taegu
in South Korea.
She began to learn the piano at the age of five and gave her first performance
three years later. She took first prize at the Korean National Competition and
undertook numerous tours with the Seoul
Philharmonic Orchestra and the Korean National Orchestra. She studied music at
the Seoul National University.
Winner of the International Music Competition, she took first prize from the
Faculty of Music and received the Medal of ”Great
Artist of Korea”.
These honors made her the subject of several newspaper articles and afforded
her numerous opportunities to perform both on radio and television.
To continue her studies and prove her talent, she left Korea for Europe.
She became the special student of Nicole Henriot at
the Royal Conservatory of Music in Brussels
where she won first prize in piano and in chamber music. Then she further
studied in Germany with Paul
Badura-Skoda and in Austria with Stanislas
Neuhaus.
Her celebrity increased. She is regularly invited to perform a wide
repertoire from baroque to contemporary music at various events on most
continents. She also recorded in France,
Belgium, Korea and China.
Music critics recognise in her a rare musical
talent which permits her to succeed equally with classical, romantic or
contemporary genres whether as a soloist, with an orchestra or in the intimacy
of a chamber music group.
For many years, she taught the piano at various music schools of Benelux. She currently shares her time between teaching
master classes and playing in concert all over the world. She also pursues
musicology studies of the electro-acoustical music of Jean-Claude Eloy. Otherwise she recently created Acronote,
a musical, dance and acrobatic spectacle that plays in Korea and in France and gave her the opportunity
to renew with the world of the dance.
