Accomodation at The Univeristy

On-Campus Housing

The University provides hostel accomodation for a limited number of students, with special consideration given to students from Muslim Minority countries as well as from non-muslim countries. The University maintains the following hostels, of which four are for males and two for females:

Kuwait Hostel
This is the largest of all the hostels with a maximum capacity of accomodating upto 800 students, and is located five minutes walking distance from the University. Mostly overseas foreign students are given rooms in this hostel, in addition to some Pakistani students also. Its name (as you may have guessed it) is due to the funding of the project by the Kuwaiti Government, and was built in 1989.

Hostel No.2
This is the second largest University hostel, but the oldest of the lot. It can hold upto 400 students and is located only two minutes walk from the University campus. It was built in 1987.

Hostel No.1 in Blue Area
This is a rented building which the University is using for the accomodation of the students. It was a commercial building with offices, which have now turned into students rooms. It is located in Blue Area, a commercial district of the city, with commercial markets on the ground floor of the building. It can hold only upto 150 students. It is however the farthest hostel from the University, being at a thirty minutes walking distance, and thus University shuttle bus service transports students back and forth at scheduled times of the day.

Hostel No.3 in Sector F-7/1
This is a large bungalow in a residential area of the city, which the University is also renting for the accomodation purposes of students. It is only twenty minutes walk from the University, and thus the University Shuttle Bus service commutes to transport the students at scheduled times of the day.

Womens Hostel No.1 in Sector F-10
This is a bungalow in residential area of the city, which is also rented by the University to provide accomodation for the female students. It is located fifteen minutes from the womens campus building and regular Univerity shuttle bus service transports the students at scheduled times of the day.

Womens Hostel No.2 in Sector F-10
Same as above and is located two blocks apart from the one above.

Off-Campus Housing

The University doesn't provide any housing for married couples who are studying at the University, which leaves them no other choice except off-campus housing in the form private apartments for rent within the city. Also, many overseas foriegn students arrange to live off-campus in rented apartments, as the University Hostel environment may not be suitable for them or not to their liking.

Off-Campus housing is mainly available in the form of renting apartments or portions of bungalows in the city. Many are located close to the Main campus and the girls campus too. However it is important to note that the living costs of Islamabad are higher than the average costs in a major city, owing mainly because it is a capital city. Thus students need to be advised that if they intend to live off-campus, they need to have a good, strong and sound financial support, otherwise financial woes can creep in and distract from studies.
