Edward Spann Dargan
April 15, 1808 - Nov. 22, 1879
Born in Montgomery County, North Carolina on April 15, 1808. Around 1829 he moved to Alabama, permanent residence was in Mobile, where he was greatly involved in Politics. In 1851 when the Surpreme Court increased the number to Five, E.S. Dorgan became the FIRST CHIEF Justice to preside over the five member Court. Chief Justice Dargan Died Nov. 22, 1879, the spelling variation could have came from the "OLD" way's.
