Named 1972 horse of the year, Secretariat is one of the most beloved of the triple crown winners. A stunning chestnut with a white blaze and three white socks, he was once thought too beautiful to be good racehorse. Obviously proving that myth false, Secretariat sports an impressive racing record. After suffering from an incurable foot disease, Secretariat was euthanized on October 4th 1989.
