God's
Greatness

O! my fellow - come near and let me
Drop a light word into your ears with glee.
If you like to have the most precious prize
Or have a blissful seat in eternal paradise:

Say there's no God but Allah and also affirm
Mohamed is His servant and Messenger so firm.
Do you wish to know how God is great,
And how kingly is His powerful state?

Look deeply at the world around you
Double will become your faith and renew.
See how worlds on worlds are made concise,
How different creatures are different in size!

Look at the sky and its glaring sun,
And you're sure to have a lot of fun.
Look at the moon as it gives silver light;
Doesn't it please when seen at night?

Beautiful are the stars that glitter and guide
Weary travellers through dark deserts wide.
Look keenly at yourself and you'll realize
How Omnipotent, Generous God is and Wise!

Look at seas and oceans and water there,
Fresh and salt surging with too much care.
Look at the mountains so huge and high,
And the most beauteous scene they imply.

Wind is made to blow by Him and rain
Falls down at His bidding not in vain.
Different kinds of fruit are near at hand,
Vegetables are grown in fertile good land.

Gold mines are scattered here and there
And other metals are found everywhere.
Oil that's called "black gold" is a real wealth,
When refined and purified of its filth.

Who gave you eyes to see and a nose to smell,
And perfected your image and made it well?
Who gave you a good reason whereby to think
And make with God communion and link?

Who taught the birds how to fly fly
And soar up in the flocks high and high?
Who taught them how to flutter and sing
And get up early and their food bring?

Who taught the cock to crow, crow
And wake up people to pray and show
Signs of obedience to their One Lord,
And be submissive and keep His word?

Who taught the worm to give us fine silk
And the cow to moo and give pure milk?
Who taught the bees to give delicious honey
To eat and sell and get so much money?

Who taught the dog to be full sincere
And bark at thieves and give them fear?
Who gave the cat feelers whereby to know
Or recognize the rat as its dearest foe?

Who taught the snake to dance to
Flute music and its skin renew?
Who taught the fish how to swim
In vast seas - fresh, salty and dim?

Who taught the spider to weave a web wide,
And the pigeon to lay two eggs at its side?
Who taught the pebbles in the Prophet's hand
To thank God and Him praise and the sand?

Who made milk flow from the fingers of
Our dear Prophet and have milk enough
To quench the thirst of hundreds of men
And give them strength and moisture the skin?

Who heals you when you fall sick
Or when a disease does to your body stick?
Who is your guide when you are lost?
It is He Who made you out of dust.

Trust in Him and His aid always seek,
Isn't the strong Faithful better than the weak?
In case you sin - don't lose the least hope
For the door of repentance has a wide scope.

Night and day it's open for those who
Come to ask forgiveness from God the True.
Never is His door shut at anyone
Whatever he does, even big is his sin.
