That's me in the center, on the left Russel Ray on the right Ken Renoylds. They are members of Russell Ray and Last Call. One of the best Texas acts as far as I'm concerned.
What I plan to do with this page is give some information about some of my favorite Texas artists and then provide you with a link to their site so you can learn more for yourself. Lets get started shall we...
RUSSELL RAY AND LAST CALL I would describe their style as "melting pot" take country and mix it with healthy ammounts of rock, rhythm and blues and just a hint of rap and disco and you've got Russell Ray... Their current CD is called Cocktails in Cozemel and is filled with a mix of ballads and Rockin' country tunes some of my favorites are... "Beerholder","WTFE","Bigger Than Dallas" and "Corpus Christi Calling" regaurdless of your pefered choice of music Russell Ray is bound to please. These boys love to have fun!! And people don't come much Nicer!
JAIME RICHARDS More of a Traditional feel Jaime is a staff writer for the legendary George Strait, and I know this seems like an outrageous claim but I think he's better... His current CD is called Between These Lines and features a very good song called "Wasted" haven't heard all of this album but what I've heard is very good... I love his Previous album called No Regrets some of my favorites were "Don't Try To Find Me" and "Red River Runaround".
COODER GRAW If you're anything like me you probably think tis is one person say the lead singer. I thought that once until I actually got to interview the lead singer which I have many of the artist on this page. By the way his name is Matt Martundale. As they say "Its loud, in-your-face Country music" a couple of my favorites are "Shiftin' Gears" and "She Loves too much"
ROGER CREAGERSaw him in concert and what is truly different about Roger Creager is he can and does play the trumpet. There's more to him, however than the trumpet. The music on his CD is enough to leap out and grab you. Songs like "Love is Crazy", "Long Way to Mexico", and his version of "The Everclear Song" should be enough for anyone.
KEVIN FOWLER What can be said about this gentleman and his style of music. Let's see anything but a gentleman... he has several CDs including some of my favorite tunes many of which have been released by national artists. maybe you have heard Mark Chesnutt's "The Lord Loves The Drinkin' Man" or Sammy Kershaw's "Beer, Bait, And Ammo" Those are both Kevin Fowler songs and Kevin Does em better. It's only
BRENN HILL A folkish americana sound I would compare to John Denver. Very Easy to listen to story songs his current single is "Buckaroo Tattoo" but my personal favorite is "Little John". His current CD is called Endangered.
BLAKE STAMPER To describe Blake Stamper's music requires only one word hickabilly. But then you must explain what hickabilly is in his own words "You mix country, rhythm, blues and soul
With a little bit of grass and a lot of rock-n-roll Its a little cornfusion but it aint no fad." His current CD is called The Way Back To Texas that's also the name of his current single some of my favorites off this CD would be "Hot Rod Chevy", "Hickabilly Beat" & "Christmas Things". Not only is Blake a great musician but he kinda looks like... Elvis... no Stone Cold Steve Austin and we all know that's a plus.
DERYL DODD Deryl has a real distinguishable sound and voice. His current CD is called Stronger Proof it's also the name of his current single. Many of his songs I really love including one that Tim McGraw recorded called "That's Just Me". A couple of my other favorites are "Things Are Fixin' To Get Real Good", "One Ride in Vegas" and "That's Alright Mama".
CORY MORROW What can be said about Cory? Let's see make A ball of Energy, Perversion, Musical Genius, Talent, Drive, and Beer and then you have Cory Morrow Lot's of Great songs again but a few of my favorites are "Texas Time Travelin'", "Big City Stripper", "21 Days" and "Between The Lines."
JACK INGRAM Haven't seem him live but have interviewed him seemed like a fun loving guy. That can definately be said of his music. Fun Loving that is my personal favorite is a recent single called "Attitude & Drivin'"
JASON ALLEN This Young Man has a future and it only takes one listen to know he's going places. Along with Jaime Richards he too is on D Records that in the past had legendary artists like Big Bopper, George Jones, Willie Nelson, and yes George Strait. Guess they know how to pick 'em. A couple of Jason's songs that I love are "Cryin For Their Mamas", "Something I Dreamed" and "Lucky Arms" those are all off his 1st Cd but his new one's good too. It's called Wouldn't It Be Nice and includes the single "Your Heart Turned Left(And I Was On The Right)."
JARROD BIRMINGHAM I have always been a big fan of Outlaw music and though Jarrod doesn't claim to be an Outlaw he does "The Best I Can." He looks like Dwight Yoakum but Thank God he doesn't sound like him. How'd he get a star on the walk of fame anyways? Enough about him Jarrod's much much better... Cd's called Stages.
PAT GREEN Let's face it if you've ever heard of Texas music you've heard of Pat.No compilation of Texas artists would be complete without him. So....
BIG JOHN MILLS He's large in stature and musical talent can play guitar with some of the best of 'em and his voice is pretty big too. Some of his songs that I suggest checking out are "She Rules The Roost", "Jim Beam & Jack Daniels(Wrote My Favorite Songs)" and the current single off Honky Tonks & Neon Lights "Today Ain't Your Day"
BLUE DOGS Fun Loving group of guys with a sound that is unmistakingly country. My absolute favorite by far is "Make Your Mama Proud." But there are a lot of good songs put out by these guys I also really enjoy "Wrong Love At The Right Time." The CD is called Halos and Good Buys and no matter how cliche this might sound it's a very good buy. Don't know if I'd call it angelic or halo worthy but a good buy either way.
Shy Blakeman
Some of the above artists have some outdated information being that I haven't worked on my page in quite sometime Shy Get's the priviladge of having current information because he is my most recent add I have the CD Downtown Women. (Great CD) kind of a Rock Country hybrid. His latest CD is called The Southern Roots Revival. You may have heard of him from USA Networks Nashville Star but he's all Texas.
Jason Boland and The stragglers Not to be confused with Jason Allen, Jason Boland is very different his music is at home at any place so long as there's booze lot's and lot's of booze oh and ladies too. My Favorite Tunes from Him are Pearl Snaps and Mexico or Crazy.
