Fear of Death?

I have felt a need to compile some scriptures on the subject of death for some time now, especially since dealing with Hospice patients - as well as others who were terminally ill. The children of God are the ones I have been the most concerned about when I have heard of their fear of dying. Death is not to be feared for the child of God! Scriptures teach us this! If we believe ALL the Word of God... then we must believe this also. Reading/hearing the Word gives us Faith. If we believe that God IS, then we must believe what His Word tells us about death also. Let's trust God!

---------------------

The Word speaks for it's self!

Ecclesiastes 3:2 A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;

(Our appointed time to die is ordained by God. We need to be ready to keep that appointment and "welcome" the call to go HOME!)

Psalms 116:15 Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints.

1 Corinthians 15:55 O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?

1 Corinthians 15:56 The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law.

(Sin must not be in our lives in order not to experience the "sting" - fear of death. "If" there is sin, then all that we need to do is repent to be free of it!)

Job 5:26 Thou shalt come to thy grave in a full age, like as a shock of corn cometh in his season.

NO SORROW

Isaiah 25:8 He will swallow up death in victory; and the Lord GOD will wipe away tears from off all faces; and the rebuke of his people shall he take away from off all the earth: for the LORD hath spoken it.

Revelation 7:17 For the Lamb which is in the midst of the throne shall feed them, and shall lead them unto living fountains of waters: and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes.

Revelation 21:4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

(We all have sorrowed and endured the pain of rejection, the pain of losing a loved one, the pain of sickness, etc. Doesn't these scriptures make us excited or what about going to be with the Lord?)

1 Corinthians 5:3 For I verily, as absent in body, but present in spirit, have judged already, as though I were present, concerning him that hath so done this deed,

2 Corinthians 5:6 Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord:

2 Corinthians 5:8 We are confident, I say, and willingrather, to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord.

2 Corinthians 12:2 I knew a man in Christ above fourteen years ago, (whether in the body, I cannot tell; or whether out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;) such an one caught up to the third heaven.

2 Corinthians 12:3 And I knew such a man, (whether in the body, or out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;)

(It has been told that this incident happened to Paul when he was stoned and left for dead)

Luke 2:29 Lord, now lettest thou thy servant depart in peace, according to thy word:

Acts 21:13 Then Paul answered, What mean ye to weep and to break mine heart? for I am readynot to be bound only, but also to die at Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus.

Philippians 1:20 According to my earnest expectation and my hope, that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but that with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ shall be magnified in my body, whether it be by life, or by death.

Philippians 1:22 But if I live in the flesh, this is the fruit of my labour: yet what I shall choose I wot not.

Philippians 1:23 For I am in a strait betwixt two, having a desire to depart, and to be with Christ; which is far better:

Philippians 1:24 Nevertheless to abide in the flesh is more needful for you.

2 Timothy 4:7 I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:

2 Timothy 4:8 Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.

2 Peter 1:14 Knowing that shortly I must put off this my tabernacle, even as our Lord Jesus Christ hath shewed me.

2 Peter 1:15 Moreover I will endeavour that ye may be able after my decease to have these things always in remembrance.

2 Peter 3:11 ¶ Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness,

2 Peter 3:12 Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?

2 Corinthians 5:9 Wherefore we labour, that, whether present or absent, we may be accepted of him.

Psalms 16:11 Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.

Psalms 17:15 As for me, I will behold thy face in righteousness: I shall be satisfied, when I awake, with thy likeness.

Psalms 73:23 Nevertheless I am continually with thee: thou hast holden me by my right hand.

Psalms 73:24 Thou shalt guide me with thy counsel, and afterward receive me to glory.

Psalms 73:25 Whom have I in heaven but thee? and there is none upon earth that I desire beside thee.

Psalms 73:26 My flesh and my heart faileth: but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion for ever.

Matthew 25:21 His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enterthou into the joy of thy lord.

Matthew 25:23 His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enterthou into the joy of thy lord.

John 14:3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.

John 17:24 ¶ Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am;that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me: for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world.

1 Thessalonians 4:17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

1 Thessalonians 4:18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

1 John 3:2 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.

Revelation 7:14 And I said unto him, Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.

Revelation 7:15 Therefore are they before the throne of God, and serve him day and night in his temple: and he that sitteth on the throne shall dwell among them.

Revelation 7:16 They shall hunger no more, neither thirst any more; neither shall the sun light on them, nor any heat.

Revelation 7:17 For the Lamb which is in the midst of the throne shall feed them, and shall lead them unto living fountains of waters: and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes.

Revelation 22:3 And there shall be no more curse: but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it; and his servants shall serve him:

Revelation 1:18 I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.

Revelation 14:3 And they sung as it were a new song before the throne, and before the four beasts, and the elders: and no man could learn that song but the hundred and forty and four thousand, which were redeemed from the earth.

"3 John 1:2 Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth. {wish: or, pray}"

The song goes: "I Am the God that healeth thee, I am thy God, thy healer"

This is a word of hope! God Heals! We don't know why He heals some and others not. But, we do know the Word teaches us it is, " by His Stripes" and also, by our Faith that we are healed. Sometimes our faith is weak, and sometimes it is just God's time for us to die! This compilation of scriptures are not meant to depress.... on the contrary... they are meant to encourage! We DO have a hope in Christ, that if He was raised from the dead, so will we be raised also! This hope is what the Christian lives for.... the promise of eternal life with Christ Jesus our Lord. Be blessed in this assurance of Hope.

I don't know about you, but, the Word excites in me an "expectation" of His coming for us!
