Don was another purchase at the Oasis Stables 2nd Annual Auction. We never thought that we'd buy a gelding let alone another western horse however I have sort of been in the market for a younger western horse. However, Don caught my eye from the start. He is just a handsome guy with a great attitude that I couldn't pass by. This is what Estefania had to say about Don: "Don is a wonderful gelding that we reclaimed when his owner quit. He was quite a handful as a colt and we thought he had much more future as a show horse than a potential sire, so we gelded him along with other colts that really didn't fit our criteria as stallion prospects. Once gelded, Don has really calmed down and has actually been doing better at the shows. Don has a very smooth topline and a very beautiful face. He is sired by Windblown's Shain, an up and coming sire that has done plenty as a show horse. Don's dam is a mare that we here at Oasis have always admired because of her beauty and bloodlines.
Don has the temperament and beauty to become a top western pleasure horse in 2007. He has very even gaits and is very attentive to his handler and very smart. He loves to please and rarely loses focus on his job. He has been able to obtain one Reserve Champion Gelding in the always competitive, but often overlooked, Geldings class against much older competition at the Region 2 Championships. He is beginning to look like a very serious show horse and he has a very bright future. With his pedigree, looks, and talent he should really turn into something special."
