What Happened to Capitol Garage???
When I first started getting into the local music scene as well as the punk scene, it was all about one place for the best bands and the best environment, and that was Capitol Garage.   Some of the greatest punk bands would always be playing, the door price was practical, the artwork was amazing, the people were amazing, and they had something there for everybody.
But lately, the shows have kind of died down.  We learned to rely on Capitol Garage with the destruction of other places, like Scratch 8 being changed to an 18+ hip hop venue, with the closing of Joe's Style Shop, the environment at Westcoast Worldwide getting way to violent, the 24 K Cafe being closed for remodeling, and Bojangles burning down.  But now, there have been rumors, and I don't think that we can rely on Capitol Garage any longer.
Rumors have been telling us that Capitol Garage is now refusing to play bands that will have "slam dancing", and now I have been hearing that they are now 18 and up only.  The website doesn't say much, and when I asked an employee about it they claimed not to know anything.  I've also been hearing that Capitol Garage will be moving, and maybe then they will go back to what they used to allow.  I don't know what is true, I don't know what is false.  All I know is that the Sacramento local music scene is the strongest community that Sacramento has.  We need to be able to go and enjoy our favorite Sacramento bands again.  It seems like ever since that fire in Florida about a year ago, safety regulations have been shutting down our favorite venues, and now we don't have any left.  We can't let the local music scene die.
