| S: You guys have been touring alot lateley.... whats that road life like? Any standout stories/ho's/experiences that stand out more than others? Has anyone thrown up uncontrollably yet? STAX: The road is pretty fucking hot when your van doesnt have any AC. No one throws up but Hollywood gets pretty drunk sometimes and gets in stalker mode. Ladies watch out he wont talk, just follow you around for a bit. S: What is the messege behind the music? STAX: I dont think there is any overall statement behind our music much of it is just life experiences. We have a few songs that stray into religion and politics but we dont try to preach our beliefs in every song. S: For any one who deos not know please tell everyone what the punk / skinhead scene is like in LA. Break it all down for us. STAX: The LA punk scene is going good right now. Theres a lot of different crews down here and they butt heads at times but at least most of them are trying to rid the scene of boneheads. I dont wanna say much more than that because every time I answer questions like that I always seem to get some kind of bitching. S: How did you guys hook up with BYO? STAX: A long story short, my brother used to work there and after we recorded a split with Fully Loaded he gave it to BYO, and they liked it. S: You've come up to sacto a few times now....how do we rate compared to other cities? STAX: I enjoy myself every time Im up there. We played with your band The Whiskey Rebels and I thought you were really good. Of course we love hanging out with our boys from Pressure Point (even Mike with your never ending shit talking). The scene seems alive up there. S: What one album changed your life forever? STAX: Its a tie between Bad Religions Suffer because its exactly what I wanted to sound like and Blink 182 (any album) because its exactly what I think no one should sound like. S: You have a song called crucifixion politix...what are your overall views on religion? STAX: I have problems with any organized religion, but we wont get into that right now. S: who in pistol grip has the most game? who gets the most ho's? STAX: I guess Joey our bass player since he seems to get the most tail. But he could get a lot more if he wasnt a pussy. S: What bands have had the most influence on you? STAX: Bad Religion, the Clash, Stiff Little Fingers, and probably the Misfits S: What are your plans for the future? Any big plans, new developments? how about the next album...do you have songs for it yet? STAX: We have a bout 7 new songs and more in the works. We should record when we get back from Europe in November or December. Look for a spring release. S: What outragous things would you do if you had millions of dollars? STAX: Id probably just get season tickets to the Dodgers. Maybe some hookers. And finally... any last words or shout outs? Nah, you covered it. Thanx. |

| Pistol Grip is one very catchy band from the streets of L.A. that have come up to Sacto sveral times now. I have had the pleasure of catching them each time they came up (and playing with them once) and can testify to the fact that they are geat live. They didn't have much to say in this interview, but they do have alot to say on their debut album " The Shots from the Kalico Rose" out now on BYO.The album rocks and you won't want to take it out of your walkman! -Big Chuck for Sactomatic |
