Office of the Victim
Advocate (OVA)
The OVA is an independent state agency created to protect and promote the legal rights of crime victims in Connecticut. The OVA does not provide direct services to victims. Instead, it provides oversight and advocacy if and when the criminal justice system and the direct victim service providers fail to comply with the legal rights of crime victims.
If you feel your legal rights as a crime victim have been or are being violated you should contact the OVA at the numbers listed below. The OVA will conduct an investigation and act to correct problems where possible. The identity of any person who files a complaint with the OVA will not be revealed without the written permission of that person.
To file a complaint or to obtain more information about the legal rights of crime victims, call the OVA at (860) 550-6632 or (888) 771-3126 (toll free in CT), or visit the website at www.ova.state.ct.us.
