The Sacred Heart Hospital, Abeokuta, was established in the year 1895. This year, 2005, makes it 110 years of its establishment. The Hospital's management is celebrating this landmark achievement. The anniversary is a 6-month long celebration which started on the first day of June 2005 with a Press conference addressed by the Proprietor, Bishop Alfred Adewale Martins; second June 2005 a carnival/candle light procession by members of staff and friends of the Hospital from where it all started, the old site of the Hospital at Oke-Paadi, Itesi Abeokuta to the Alake's palace, to the main site of the Hospital at Lantoro and on Friday 3rd June 2005, feast of Sacred Heart of Jesus, a thanksgiving Mass to officially open the 6-month long celebration and the graduation of 63 Nurses who graduated from the Hospital's School of Nursing.
