Canyons

Standing on the cliffs of canyons,
Dew of the strata blown up from the depths
Across my nostrils.
Conquering the waves of shadows,
Sun struck rock emerges on the walls
Forcing them to the fore.
The expansive atmosphere above,
Reduces my being from something to humility
In deferential fear.
Progression of the primitive,
Scored by the enduring advances of the eons
As my witness.
Of man's miniscule scale
In the overall scheme of the firmament.
Breathgiving vista.

Sky of Life

Look into the sky above
At early sunrise or late sunset
Really see
As if for the first or last time
Our hands share not in its creation
We cannot lay claim to its continuation
Truthfully so
Blissful expanse of colors harmonious
Look deeply and long into the sky
Active mixing hues of every kind
Never still
Dynamic display of beautiful instruction
Shut your eyes for awhile to black
Reopen your mind renewed again
Really view
As if for the first or last time
Look deeply and long into yourself
Find what holds value and the superficial
Let go
To become the sky above you
Pure

Reeds of Protection

Eye absorb
A brush of bamboo watercolor
While the wind blows and the
Chimes soothingly remove
Excess.
Nature carry me across the river
Into the reeds of protection,
Nourishment and bliss.
Spirit aloft
An energized light invigorates
While the shade relaxes and the
Cool stone finally affords
Me reset.
Nature carry me across the river
Into the reeds of protection,
Nourishment and bliss.
