These entries are from July and August, and are undated unfortunately. They do however proceed in the cronological order that they were originally written. Title: Missing Near Exhaustion sweeps the floor of this quiet house. The shades drawn, doors locked tight, Cat put out to guard the night, The house settles and sighs in relief at Another dayt without the Sadness. Sleep comes scarcely for those who fear this, But all sleep well within tonight. No corner holds it in, no where does it hide. For once, all is calm and placid. The pond behind is touched by Serenity and the ripples extend into the house. The Calming Shade draws across the yard and through the door To bedside tables and down pillows, but is startled and flees. A window pane was brushed by the oak. All remains quiet here. A sigh drifts on the wind to the hills. Untitled song: Hold me by the wrist and lead me on. Tell me more about how the rain reminds you Show me the umbrella that you kept And the bear that you slept with to comfort you. Your room hasn't changed, the stuff is still in its place Now there are just less pictures of others. Tell me you love me, Tell me once more. I know nothings the same You showed me the door. Tell me you love me, I think I've changed more. We're both to blame for this, Just tell me no more. Seize my wrist and lead me on. You always tried to drag me to the sun. If only the moon wasn't so far away. Untitled song: Even though I'm behind you You're still there in front of me You're climbing over the bookcase To get to where the black meets the sea. Even though I can't see you Your footsteps (are) all I hear I'll be pacin' down the shoreline Waiting there for you forever and a year. I will remind myself to Not remember any of this I will not take you for granted anymore Show me that you could be with me When I need you more than now. I will take you home 'cause this is more than you'll allow. Title: The left hand Watch as they bite their tongues I don't, but you should. Who knows where this is going? Or how the last scene will play. The script lies open in front of me Like a map to the stars, it shows me how to make my way Across the seas, the island awaits for me. I bit my lip instead As my tongue tries to speak through the seal. I worry about you always and How will you be when I can't. I find myself pondering scripts closed and gone. The light finds its way to the moon and back But I can't even get there. I can't seem to reach that temple inside. I have the will to cross the River and face the Perils But I don't know if your lip could stand it. Seldom do I find this in me I'm glad the moon is in your eyes along tonight. Title: Sunflowers (To Amanda) The porch creaks lightly under the weight of the breakfast dishes As a cool breeze rolls in from the lake. A familiar thought sweeps the crumbs off the table Putting a smile on her lips. It's another day being born from ashes "To see today is to live," She once said, And now believes it more than then. As the Star travels its celestial path across the Vault, The house is straightening itself. Field mice scurry home, and the cats curl up on the steps. And as the breeze carries the last rays of sunshine through her hair, She breathes a smile and brushes a crumb from her dress. Title: Navigating the Stars If I always followed the winds What port would be the last? Setting sail under a velvet moon Destined to make it there this time. The next call is the one Of this I'm sure. Yet as the waves kiss the bow I start to wonder if I should have stayed yesterday Or before in some land exotic Some land native. The decks awash with the jealous salt As the sky tried to fall It looks as if this might This night be the last I'll see. And as always, morning holds a new Bed for my boots to shelter under. A new port, a new life, love, and Desire to find the Last. The waves kiss the hull once more As my mind searches both Horizons, forward and aft for The One port for my boots.
