Antelope Bujinkan Dojo
What is the Bujinkan and what does it teach?
The Bujinkan is an organization headed by grandmaster Masaaki Hatsumi of Noda city Japan. Hatsumi Sensei is the inheritor of 9 distinct schools of Japanese martial arts, he has taken what he believes are the most important aspects of these arts and the martial arts in general and teaches them to students around the world.

The 9 schools found in the Bujinkan are:

Gyokko Ryu Kosshijutsu
Koto Ryu Koppojutsu
Togakure Ryu Ninjutsu
Shinden Fudo Ryu Dakentaijutsu
Takagi Yoshin Ryu Jutaijutsu
Kukishinden Ryu Happo Bikenjutsu
Gikan Ryu Koppojutsu
Kumogakure Ryu Ninpo
Gyokushin Ryu Ninpo

Although the Bujinkan does contain 9 distinct traditions of Japanese martial arts, the grand sum of martial knowledge conveyed via training in the Bujinkan is known as Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu.

Training at the Antelope Bujinkan Dojo consists of developing Kihon (foundation of martial arts), studying the Ryu Ha (individual schools) and classical weapons such as the staff and sword (Bojutsu and Kenjutsu) amongst others. We attempt to understand the martial arts and philosophy from their cultural context so that we may apply them within our own cultural context. In that sense the study of Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu is both traditional and modern in many ways.
