Rejuvenation of the Aging FacePresenter: Dr. Peter T. H. Wang, Assistant Professor
摘要: At the population in the United States ages, more and more people are seeking ways to recapture their youth. In addition to nutrition supplements and exercise, cosmetic surgery has become a popular method for rejuvenation. The aging process often commences in the mid 30's around the eye, manifesting as bags underneath the eyes, redundant skin in the upper lids, and wrinkles of the crow's feet. Descending of the brows and wrinkling of the forehead follows the next aging progression. Finally, sagging of the cheek pads with deepening of the nasal-labial folds, jowl formation, and redundant skin under the neck depict an aging face. Loss of facial fat result in pruning and wrinkling. Facial rejuvenation addresses both the quality and the quantity of the skin. Endoscoping forehead lift improves the upper facial esthetics through minimal incisions. Blepharoplasty removes excess skin and fat around the eye. Face lift, midface lift and neck lift pull the facial skin backward and upward, as well as re-suspending the underlying soft tissue. Laser resurfacing, peel, injection of Botox and autologous fat grafting are adjuncts to the surgery. Cosmetic facial rejuvenation surgery has been refined and evolved to become safe and increasingly sought after by the aging population.
