Fitting of Dental Implant RestorationsPresenter: Dr. Kwok-hung Chung
摘要: Dental Implant is the device to replace the root portion of missing tooth. Artificial teeth are fixed onto these devices in order to let people be able to chew well and comfortably. Achieving an acceptable fit between implant and restoration is proved to be critical for long-term success clinically. Many factors including casting distortion, cooling shrinkage and alignment design may create misfits during denture fabrication. The distortion inherent during restoration construction has been implicated as a probable cause of implant complications and failures. Electric discharge machining is a metal removal process that uses a series of electrical sparks to erode material from a work piece under carefully control conditions. Induction heating is a method of providing fast, consistent heat for manufacturing applications that involve bonding or changing the properties of metals. Dental implant therapy and the methods of correction of casting error by use of electric discharge machining and induction heating are presented. We are looking forward to improving clinical management of patient by close cooperation among dentists and related scientists.
