Description of semiconductors and the semiconductor industry is given in simple terms, with examples of the semiconductor industry's products and their penetration into our daily lives. Silicon integrated circuits (Ics) are emphasized throughout the presentation. A short review of the history of the semiconductor IC industry is given, form both the technological and the economic points of view. Operation of a typical semiconductor factory (wafer fab) is described. Major players in the overall IC market as well as in various segments of the market are ranked in terms of their annual sales. Presentation ends with predictions of the industry's technology advancement and sales growth for the next few years.
簡歷：
Dr. Li is responsible for the process transfers from Sony's R&D center in Tokyo to its wafer fab in San Antonio products. His work included transistors, DRAMs, SRAMs, ASICs and microprocessors. Dr. Li worked for SGS-Thomson Microelectronics in transferring new technologies to production and setting up new process. He holds a Ph.D. degree in E.E. from Yale Univ. He also taught at several universities.
