Helicopter Technology Development and ApplicationDr. Jing G. Yen 閻經國
摘要:
The first civil helicopter, the Bell Model 47, was certified in 1946. Four hundred of those are still flying today. Helicopter designers and technology engineers are now able to take advantage of sophisticated dynamics and structural methodology, computational fluid dynamics (CFD), and 3-D electronic mockup to design more affordable helicopters. This advantage is due to advancement in structure material and manufacturing technology, advancement in avionics and system integration, and availability of super computer and workstations. However, there is a limitation on performance because of the complexion of the dynamic and aerodynamic environment of a helicopter. Challenging this limitation, tilt rotor technology developed, matured, and is now ready for production. This presentation will address helicopter safety, business opportunities, civil applications, technology challenges, and modern design processes introduced. Adiscussion of competitive edge in the market place will follow.
