Structural Biology in Biotechnology

摘要：
Recent advances in structural biology have contributed significantly in the development of new agents in several areas of biotechnology. Structural biology may be broadly defined as the study of the three dimensional structures of biological molecules and assemblies using powerful biophysical tools, including X-ray crystallography, nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy, computational biology, electron microscopy, and other techniques. The basic theory of these tools from a non-specialist's perspective will be introduced. Some examples of application, e.g., rational drug design, will be presented.

Dr. Wang is the Acting Dept. Head of Cell & Structural Biology and Professor of Biophysics & Chemistry at UIUC. He has been visiting scholars at several universities, including MIT, Caltech, Leiden and Nijmegen. Dr. Wang published more than 213 papers and acted in Editorial Board for biology professional journals. Prof. Wang was elected as member of ASBMB and AIC. He received his Ph.D. degree in Chemistry from UIUC.
