Big Brothers Jemma gives us her down-to-earth take on body image and her new supermodel TV role.

Jemma Gawned has a confession to make. I hate with a passion looking at photos of myself. Its the worst, she says. I honestly dont feel Im very photogenic.

Thousands, however, would beg to differ. The down-to-earth former Big Brother housemate has become a pin-up of sorts since leaving the house, having gleamed it up in various magazines with newly straightened hair, showing off her super-toned body. Jemmas currently putting that new-found modelling experience, along with her previous stint in the fashion industry, to good use as one of the hosts of Network Tens Search for a Supermodel, which premieres this Thursday at 8pm. She gives NW the lowdown about being a big sister to the girls, her body, her boobs and Red Rooster

Tell us about your role on Search for a Supermodel
Well, Im acting as a big sister or chaperone to the girls. I wasnt sure how it would all work, but the girls have been fantastic. They came to see me as Jemma, not Jemma from Big Brother, so chatted to me about everything, from how theyre going on the catwalk to their love life.

Do you think shows like this promote the idea that skinny is best?
The thing is, youre often quite lanky at 14 anyway I know I was. The girls that have been chosen are not underweight they have good figures; good little bums. I think thats the trend at the moment. Theres one thing I say to young girls the only thing that stops you in life is yourself. Being ambitious, independent and a strong woman is far more important than worrying if youre a size 8 or 16. Its just about being happy with yourself at whatever size you are.

Has your weight changed at all since leaving Big Brother?
I dont think it changed going up or down in the house. Even though we did quite a lot of exercise, I think I was more inactive. A couple of times people have commented about my weight, asking me if I think its right for me, being the size I am (size 8-10 and 173cm tall), to be in the public eye, but my answer to that is Ive always been that way Im lean. I dont diet, but I cant help it if Im not a size 16. I just think theres more important things to worry about in life than your weight.

Are you just one of these lucky people whos got a fast metabolism?
Its funny I had my metabolism tested and it was normal, which surprised me. I think its more that Im just really active and busy, which helps. My mothers convinced I have hollow legs Ive always had a healthy appetite, ever since I was a kid. But since Ive gotten older Im conscious of what Im putting in my body, because I know its harder to get off.

Is there anything youd like to change about your body?
I wouldnt mind bigger boobs! To all the girls out there who are a little large, be thankful you have boobs!

Would you ever consider plastic surgery?
I dont think I particularly like messing around with my body, putting something foreign in it, but I wouldnt rule it out. But Id have to be really sure about it and all the health risks.

So are you happy with the way you look?
Yep, for sure.
