| 26 April 2002 Chan's the Man Following his appearance, the forums went off, calling for Chan to be allowed to enter the house instead of Damo. In response to our poll, 70 per cent of you wanted to see Chan enter the house. Chan himself doesnt think its a bad idea. "Id be the most relaxed in the house and, unlike Damo, Id do all the cooking," he laughed. Chan promises not to run around in his undies too much, preferring instead to saunter in his sarong. He has a wide collection, and even wears them when he cooks. "They are so practical in the summer heat - except when its windy," he chuckled. We suspect Chans sarong flying open on the BB screen would set some hearts racing as much as Damos chest did. He might even be a potential love interest for Kat, given her preference for older men. Chan said hed spice up the house with musical talent to match Damos guitar-playing. Hes confessed he loves belting out a tune. "Especially Frank Sinatra - I love New York, New York," he said. Despite Damos departure, Chan still watches BB religiously, and even has a favourite. "Jess is best, shes very natural and not too emotional," he said. Chan said most of Damos girlfriends in the real have been more like Jess. Chan, now in his 60s, moved to Australia from Malaysia with his wife in 1975 and fell in love with all things Aussie. He said he has always been a "chilled-out guy" who thinks the secret to life is "being yourself and not comparing your life to anyone elses". So did he think Damo was himself in the house? "Yes he was, and since hes been out, hes coping very well with the attention". He hasnt seen Damo since the eviction, but Chan said "Ill be waiting for him at the end of the rollercoaster, and love him just the same". |

| Damos gone and forgotten, but his dad rocks on. Seventy per cent of you would like to see Chan in the house. And hed love to be there. Chan burst onto our screens at the first eviction show, keeping his cool amid a sea of screaming Damo fans. He took it all in his stride, looking chic in his white trousers and tropical tan - "Queensland cool", as Chan calls it. |
