I forget when I first began reading books. The first of the books that I can re-collect reading are Chandamama in Telegu when I was 7 years old. I remember reading the stories in this children's story magazine aloud with my mother or my father besides me helping with the storyline or the pronounciation.

When I was nine my parents encouraged me to start reading
Chandamama & Indrajal comics in English. I continued to read Balajyothi in Telugu. The exploits of Gods and Goddesses of Hindu mythology and fictional heros and heroines completely filled my head and one could not really fault me if I wanted to be like them. Some of my favorite characters from comics include: Phantom, Mandrake, Bahadur & Bela, Flash Gordon

When I was 10 my mother taught me to read in my mind. I resisted at first, but soon found that I could much faster by reading in my mind. Of course, this also meant I could read more comics than I usually did. By now
Twinkle & DC comics were also part of my reading. This really helped me during my next year when I was in BHEL, Hyderabad. I had access to comics I had read before and many more I never came across. I had a blast....

My favorite books:

1. Nada Brahma
2. Siddhartha ( Herman Hesse )
3. The Upanishadhs ( RamaKrishna Mission publications )
4. Gods of Love & Ecstasy: Shiva & Dionysius ( Alain Danielou )
5. Kama Sutra ( Translated by Alain Danielou )
6. Ramayana & Mahabharatha ( Rajagopala Chari )
7. Godel, Escher and Bach ( Douglas Hofstader )
8. Dancing Wu Li Masters ( Gary Zukav )
9. Reflexive Universe ( Arthur Young )
10. Human Motivation and Emotion ( Ross Buck )
11. Krishna Avatar ( G. M. Munshi )
