bed. He sighed closing his eyes. �They were fine together while Saby was still
alive the first time. What had changed? True Seth and I had become... close,
but was that so wrong? Sabyien couldn�t expect us not too... why was he so,
jealous? Was that the right word? Jealous?� ryo groaned. That might be true.
He sat up and yawned rubbing his eyes. Pulling his clothes off he lay back
bare skinned in the sheets he had brought himself from Seths home. He didn�t
trust the cleanliness of the hotels blankets, especially with his newly
acquired habit from the vampire. With timid hands he gripped himself thinking
of the times he had been with the guardian and the vampire, though it turned

so strongly." Seth frowned, "Do they honor duels as we do here?"
"Yes, they do...The Ashalanian Knights have a very strict rules about duels
between themsleves. They can not refuse nor run away from a challange. Even
worse, is not to admit defeat against a stronger opponent in a duel of honor,
it's thought better to accept one's defeat then to continue on a hopeless
battle...A knight in servertude can do many things, a dead one can do nothing."
"So it's a way to advance through the hiarchy..."
"Yes, in the very early days, Ashalanian Knights fought to see who would be
leader of them all." Sadi pours himself some wine."In some ways they still do
this, any adventure or brave thing a Knight accomplies rises him higher on the
ladder."
"If I beat Sabyien tommorrow...With-out killing him."
"His Knight's honor won't allow him to refuse what you ask of him after you
defeat him."
"Nothing?" Seth smiled.
"Nothing." Sadi confermed.
"But...What if..." Seth frowned."Sabyien doesn't want to accept defeat?" He

"Then he's asking for his own death." Sadi poured himself more wine. "It is
said in Ashaland...a Fallen Knight's only salvation is death in battle."
Ryo got out of the cab looking up at the hall. He took the key he had
forgotten to give back to the school. He slipped it into the training hall
looking around at its quiet stillness. He walked over to the supply room and
turned on the lights, there they were locked up behind the plastic of the
supply case. He picked up a monkey wrench ad swung it the lock broke off
easily. He opened the case looking at the two swords at the end another lock
stood between him and them. Another swing and they were his. The twin swords
were heavy but not two heavy, it would take him some practice to get used to
them but he had all night. He gave them a practice swing. If he wanted to stop

The sun rose, ryo was walking out of the gym to a waiting cab, he wasn�t tired

Gabe was behind him holding the vampires sword. Seth addressed him. �Sabyien
of Ashaland; I accept your challenge of battle to the terms we agreed to. Have
you chosen your second?�
Saby nodded looking behind him where Sadi stood his hands in his pockets.
Ariel stood further away appointed by Michael to be the judge and report to
him who was victorious.
�So you both agree the victors wishes will be met by the looser. No matter
what we may be.� Ariel said his voice authoritative and strong despite his
hang-over.
The cab sped up to the building ryo finished changing, he had both swords
strapped across his back over his hooded robe, a third short blade strapped
to his left leg and twin daggers hanging from his hips. Nothing was going to
stop him from doing this. He paid the cabbie and walked into the building up
to the roof he watched as the two took their marks. He stood their unnoticed
by all others.
The vampire and the guardian took their swords and stood back to back. both
shouted "We agree!"
Seth felt Sabyien press his back to him, he gently leaned back, this touch made

with another block by Seth.

Seth tried to block this, but the blade slid under and found his body. the

Biting back the pain, Seth dropped an elbow on Saby's shoulder. Sabyien gasped,
Seth drove it down again, using all his vampiric streanth, the gaurdian let go

Saby rolled to a stop, coughing, holding his aching sides.
Seth tried to pull the sword out, but thought better of it, he could lose alot

very stupid, Do you want me to kill you? Sadi told me all about your
traditions, that a Fallen Knight must regain his honor through a battle to the

Saby ripped the sword up and took up a new stance looking over at Seth. �I�ll
deal with you after I take care of this fool.� He charged forward and swung to

to disable Saby. The guardian fended him off and kicked the boy back. the look

The masked man truned in time to see the guardian bare down on him.

The vampire was losing blood quickly, he stood up, one slow step at a time, he
came closer to the stanger."I've only seen that move once before....are you?"

small mouthful of the saint's blood to restore him. A little wobbly, he stood
up. "We should try to wake him..." He looked to Ryo and smiled."And give him
that same qustion I gave you....Only, he'll have to do whatever you request of
him." The vampire gave the boy a raised eyebrow.
"But I didn't say yes to that yet." Ryo said, following Seth and Gabriel to the
next room. "What 'question'?" Gabe asked but Seth only smiled.
Ariel was pressing a icepack to Saby's head, Sadi was standing over the bed,
arms crossed in deep thought. As Ryo came closer, Ariel lifted the ice off,
showing a dark blue bruise on his forhead. Ryo winched.

then what? Humans are mortal, even one bonded to a vampire, he will die one
day...and when that happens the gateway will be opened."
"Sabyien is the Perserver of Balance, Doesn't that count for something?" Ariel
frowned."When the Saint does die, he may have the sword complete with it's full
power and then he'll be able to re-seal the gateways."
"Ariel, The Guardian used most of his power to revive Ryo." Gabriel said.
Sadi wanted to end this conversation, "Who's to say that within a hundred
years, Sabyien might regain his full powers? You Angels worry far too much." he
said downing his drink. What the demon kept to himself was the inforamtion that
upon Sabyien's death was reassurnce that the gateways would be sealed forever,
but there was no point in telling this to the Angels, for they loved him too
dearly to consider it.
Luckily the converastion had changed when Seth walked into the dinning room
with Sabyien, a pale Ryo walked in a few moments later with a worried Jenga
trailing him. The vampire was already eating when Ryo sat down. "Ryo? Are you
feeling well?" He asked. Ryo shook his head. "I'll be fine."
Sabyien pushed a glass of water into Ryo's hand. "Here, drink some, maybe you'd
feel better if you rest upstairs."
�No I�ll be alright.� He gave a weak smile and took a drink of water to wash
the taste of vomit from his mouth. �Its just a little flu, I�ll be over it in a
few days.� He reassured them. Ariel didn�t look so certain. He got up and
walked over to ryo and tilted his head up looking him in the eye.
�You�re keeping something from us. I can see it in your eyes. So tell us. What
is it?�
After a moment or two of staring into Ariel�s intense eyes he began to tell
them everything about his drams in as much detail as he could muster. The
others became gravely serious. Ariel walked to the door.
�I must tell Michael. There�s not much time.�
Seth didn't seem to understand."So what does this mean?"
"It could mean a lot of things, Seth." Sabyien said. "But I'm not totally sure
myself." The Guardian was deep in thought,he wanted to wait and see what
Michael had to say about this.
Ryo leaned his elbow on the table. "Just for one day..." he sighed sadly.
The vampire reached over and stroked Ryo's face. "We have been through
worst...We'll get through this."
Sadi looked out the window, the sun was just touching the tops of the
trees. "The gateway was opened, who knows what else might have come into this
world."
Sadi stood up. �Well guys its been interesting.� He stretched. �But I suppose
I should be getting back.�
�Back?�
�To the gate.� Sadi chuckled. �I should go see the wife and kids before you
seal it again.� He walked to the door. �And the guardians fate whilst your at
it.�
�What do you mean?� Saby stood up to question the demon but sadi was already
gone.
Sabyien watched the demon leave. My fate he said. Saby frowned, "I wish that
he'd give me a clear answer once in awhile." he said.
Seth shugged, "Sabyien, Let's wait till Ariel gets back...it will be a day or
so for Ariel to make the trip to Micheal and then get back there. Information
like that is far too senitive to be relayed over the phone."
"Yeah, but I can't help but to worry."
Gabriel stood up. "If you would excuse me gentlemen, I have an assinment to do:
While you have gotten rid of Sephion, there are still the Hybrid demon breeds
out there. I've got to start hunting them down." the angel truned his hazel
eyes to Seth "Do you want to join me Seth?"
The vampire looked at Ryo and Sabyien. "No thank you Gabe, I'll wait for
Micheal's message."
Jenga stood up and walked over to Gabe. �Can I go too? You need back up don�t
you?�
Gabriel shook his head. �I�m sorry this kind of job is to much for a...�
Before gabe could get the next word out of his mouth Jenga had him down on the
ground both his arms locked behind him. she smiled smugly.
�For a what? Girl? I did train with draven every day when I was younger. I
think I can handle myself.�
�OK! OK! LET ME UP!!� The angel shouted in pain Jenga let him up.
�See you outside.� She bounded outside. Gabe turned to the others who except
for ryo were holding back insane fits of laughter.
�Bastards.� He muttered walking out.
The vampire took several deep breaths. "I'm really proud of that girl." Sabyien
was trying to get a hold of himself. "Do you think she could join the Tempor
knights? She's almost one of them already."
Ryo smiled."I think she'd make a great one. How old do she have to be to
join?"
"13 years old, they start basic training at that age." Seth said, Sabyien
truned to the vampire. "How old is she now?"
"About 12-13...." Seth paled, "Oh crap! I forgot, her birthday's in a couple
of days!"
"You forgot about her birthday?" Ryo asked unbelieveing.
�I�ve been busy keeping you from dying.� Seth said crossing his arms. �And
then theirs the whole duel thing. So its natural to get a little distracted
obviously.�
�Or you�re just going senile old man.�
�Watch your tongue Ryo. I may be forced to do something inappropriate with it.�
�Like earlier?�
�Quiet.�
Sabyien smiled, listening to Ryo and Seth. They ate supper with much flinging
of food items.
Late that evening, Sabyien had landed from his usal night flight. He had
wanted to escape the growing feeling of dread, what ever Micheal will have to
say will not be good.
Like Ryo, he wanted the peace to last a little more longer.
Opending the balcony doors, Sabyien came into Seth's dark bed room, his wings
where a bit dusty from flying low.
The vampire came from the bathroom, freashly washed, clad in a bathrobe. "Nice
night out there? " Seth asked, coming closer to admire Saby's angelic wings.
He brushed off some dust."God, have you been rolling around in the dirt?"
Before Sabyien could reply, Seth draged a low chaise lounge near the open
bacony dorrs and sat the guardian in it. "Seth..?"
"Quiet...I'll get all this dust off first." Seth took a damp cloth and began
to clean each feather. Sabyien's wings twiched at the touch, he knew he was
blushing, he wasn't use to letting someone take care of him.
As the Vampire smoothed his hands over the soft feathers, Seth admired the way
they seemed to glow in the moonlight. "Beautiful..." He breathed.
Ryo walked in with a pakage in his hand. He looked in wounder at Sabyien's
wings. "Flying again?"
"y-yes,"
"Saby flew himself into a dust cloud." Seth said, wiping down another
feather. Sabyien crossed his arms. "Seth? Not matter what you do,
nothingsgoing to undo the taint you've done." he said in mock indignation. The
vampire stoped what he was doing, "Oh? So you say that I tarnished that halo
of yours wounderful angel?" he kissed Saby's bare shoulder. "Not that it
matters any more...you are mine after all."
�Ours,� Ryo corrected sitting in front of Sabyien. �That is... if he says so.�
Seth sighed. �You need to grow more backbone ryo. We might not always be here
to protect you and make up your mind. Well... I will be soon, but Sabyien
might not. So you need to start making up your own mind.�
�I know but...�
�But nothing. Stand up for yourself once in a while. We might get bored if you
just lay there and take it.�
Ryo stood up. �Really?� he crossed his arms. �So I�m just a plaything then.
Just a toy to get bored of and throw to the wayside. A creature of whimsy.�
�That�s not what I meant.�
�Its what you implied.� Ryo said gritting his teeth. Their eyes locked, Saby
could feel the tension in the room grow.
"Ryo, What Seth is saying that you should grow stronger on your own. Maybe all
of us together here might not be best for you...I admit, I'd give in to what
ever you want." Sabyien's words eased the tension somewhat.
"As would I." The vampire said. "But I usally take what I want first...If you
can forgive that one fault Ryo...you can sleep in another bed if you want to."
"...I don't want to sleep anywhere else."
Both Saby and Seth smiled, "Nor do we." Sabyien said speaking for himself and
the vampire. The guardian bent to kiss Ryo. "In all my serching, the one thing
I've wanted most is right here."
"Ok, don't move too much Saby."
Sabyien winced as the vampire pulled him back into sitting postion, "I'm not
done here, get dust into the carpets, and I'll have you chained to the
ceiling." Seth said, warningly. Sabyien took this as a challange, he smiled
suggestively "Would you enjoy that my vampire love?" Then he gasped when Seth's
fingers closed in around the base of the wing. "Don't tempt me Guardian, or you
really will be hanging from the ceiling tonight."
Seth grined, Saby's comment had put other ideas into his head. The wing in his
hand twiched. "Seth! Let go...that really...tickles..." Sabyien gasped out, his
back was arched. The rest of his body locked at the vampire's grip, he couldn't
move.
"This is interesting." Seth said, with the other hand he did the same to the
other wing. Sabyien made a small sound in his troat. "Ok, OK. I'm sorry, Let go
Seth. Let go!" he was writhing inside.
"Not until you'll agree to..."
"Seth, let him go." Ryo said, huffing.
At the boy's annoyed look, the vampire let go of Sabyien's wings. They folded
up, twiching again when Seth resumed cleaning them once again. Saby shot him a
dirty look over one shoulder which Seth ignored saying. "...I could have had
him as a kitty with a collar and leash. Meow~ " he smirked.
Ryo looked up at Saby conserned. "Did that hurt?"
"No, not at all, It's like when someone grabs the base of your neck...tickels
so much you can't move..."
"Well Since its late I think I'm going to turn in." ryo said standing up. "it
hink I'll sleep in my own room, I don't want to spread this flu around....
It's just for me. You two can't have it." he said giving them a mockingly
greedy look. "Try not to miss me too much."
"Don't worry." Seth smiled looking down at the half dressed guardian, "We
wont."
"I'll be in to check on you in a few hours ryo. get some sleep you look like
hell."
"Thanks love." Ryo said walking out. he yawned. "Today's been alot..."
"Now... where was I?" Seth asked carressing Saby's wings.
The next morning, Sabyien lifted his head from the vampire's chest and
groaned, he felt a bit sore. His back was stiff from Seth's attention, the
wings where gone. Untangling himself from the sheets, Saby got dressed to get
some breakfast. "Get some for me will you?" Seth asked from the bed, he had
that warm tossed look that the Guardian found appealing.
Sabyien gave him a thumb's up before making his way into the kitchen's the
staff was given the weekend off, so Sabyien desided to make breakfast, he
desided to bring some to Ryo too.
Carrying the eggs and baccon on the trays he stopped by Ryo's room,
knocking "Hello? Ryo are you awake?" No answer, he took out a key and
unlocked the door. Ryo was still asleep. Sabyien smiled, he didn't want to
wake him. Saby put the plate and a large cup of oj on the bedside table. "Kan-
ni meta...Ryo." he mummered before quitely leaving the room.
"What took you so long?" Seth demaned, the coner of his mouth quirked.
"You gave your staff the weekend off remember? Be happy that at least I know
how to cook." Sabyien gave him his plate, he sat on the bed eating his own
breakfast.
Ryo slowly sat up. he sleepilly said to the empty room. "Ja nau medin
Sabyien."
his voice was quite and sleepy. he took the orange juice and took a drink. the
taste awakend him more so. he stood up the sunk back to the bed feeling light
headed. "Damn..." he swallowed again feeling the glass slip from his hand to
smash on the floor its contents already spilled and seeped into the bed. He
felt ready to black out only barely holdng on to conciousness.
Taking a bite out of his toast, Sabyien flipped through the morning's newpare
he had brought up. Looking at the entertainment section he thought that he
was sinking into the picure.
"Whoa! There..." Seth had am arm around his shoulders, keeping him from
tipping
off the bed.
"What happend?" Saby asked, blinking
"I don't know, you kinda paled and almost fell." The vampire said, he put a
hand to Saby's forehead. "Not coming down wtih anything are you?"
"I don't think so..."
Why did that happen?
Sabyien got up. "I'm gonna go check on Ryo. be right back."
The room was spining and harbouring on slipping into darkness for a moment the
slowly things calmed down ryo slowly sayt up. "Head rush..." he said slowly
and catiously returning to his feet. he coughed for a few minutes then walked
to the door, he was about to pull it open when saby barged in whacking ryo in
the face with the door. "Ow." Ryo groaned rubbing his nose. "That hurt..." he
stepped back to glare at saby. "Knock first... I could have been naked."
"Sorry, I...just came to see if you were alright" Sabyien said. "Are you ok?"
"Yeah I'm fine."
"........."
"What? I've said I'm fine now."
Sabyien shook his head. "I guess it's nothing...you've eaten yet?"
"Ummm no." Ryo answered looking back at the untouvhed plate.
"You should You'll need your energy for tonight we'll be doing the ceremony...
if you're healthy enough."
"I'll be fine, No flu will stop me from doing what I have to..."
"Alright." Saby kissed him on the forehead. But didn't look like he believed
him.
He would keep a close watch on Ryo, something didn't feel right.
Seth was digging through the papers in his office desk. "Now where are they?
yes!" The vampire pulled out the travel-plan pakage. 'Carribian cruise' he
flipped to the honeymoon deal. "Or maybe we might have to get a family deal
instead"
"Ahh, There you are Seth. What's wrong? forgot where you placed your vows?"
Sabyien teased as he and Ryo came in.
"Uh. nope," The vampire smiled."How about a vacation?"
Ryo looked closely, he grined. "Do we have to get Saby into a dress again?"
"Hey! I'm not cross-dressing again!"
Seth lughed. "There won't be any need to. So Sabyien, have you found the place
yet?"
"Yes, theres's a lake not to far from here."
"Lake?" Ryo asked,
"For the ceremony..."Sabyien answered."In my homeland, a couple gets married
in the water."
"Oh..." Ryo answered. "Sounds wonderful... hope we don't drown... is there
anything we... I Should know about the ceremony other than that? I mean I
don't want to mess it up..."
"You won't drown, but it will get very wet." Sabyien said.
"A moonlight swim...sounds romantic."
Sabyien smiled.
"...is there anyone else needed other then the 3 of us?"
"No, just us three. It doens't have to be public."
"That's good." Seth said. "I don't mind swiming around in a nude but if anyone
else see you naked other then me-"
Ryo blinked "Nude?"
"Uh...Yeah Ryo." Saby smiled, he gave the vampire a look. "Thanks for ruining
the suprise." Seth shurgged.
"Ummm... Does it have to be nude?" ryo asked bashfully.
"Yes. The ceremony is about casting off your old life and joining with the
other... others. ad beginning your new life together."
"Oh... well If your sure no one will see..."
"Yea but it also takes three days. so make sure you're prepared."
"Ok..." Ryo swallowed. "I'm not a strong swimmer..."
"heh, don't worry, we just have to repeat the same thing at sunrise and sunset
of each morning." Sabyien said. "The other times we can spend together."
The Vampire leand back. "Just think of it as a campout..." he sighed."I
suppose that you'll get everything ready Sabyien?"
"Yes, I'll go on ahead of you. To set up the tent and make sure that the
magical wards I placed there work...we don't want to be interuppted." Sabyien
smiled at Ryo with a gleam in his eyes. Ryo broke his gaze away when Seth got
up. "Gabriel has volentreed to look after Jenga, it sounds that she's a lot of
help to him in sniffing out breeds."
"I would suppose so all things concidered." Ryo smiled. "She does see beyond
the usual."
"What do you man?" Seth asked perking an eyebrow.
"You don't even know your daughters skills? Seth your slipping." ryo said then
stopped. "How long of is jenga's birthday."
"Two days."
"And how long does the Ceremony take."
"Three...Shit..."
"Well we could always put the ceremony off for a few days." saby shook his
head. "No real rush."
"Unless my dreams are real." Ryo said chewing his lip. "Cause we're runnng out
of time."
"We can cut it down to one night...If that's allright with both of you."
They nodded. Sabyien continued. "Since we have more ergent matters. Then get
gifts for Jenga the next day..."
"I suggest that get Jenga to help us out in figuering out what's wrong." Ryo
said. "I know that she isn't a seer like Micheal...but she could be."
The vampire sighed, "It lookes like my new compostion will have to wait for
awhile longer."
"Another one Seth?" Sabyien asked him. Seth nodded, "I'll let you hear what I
have now, but I'm still not satisfyied with it yet."
"It doesn't matter, I'll still be enthralled by it." the guadrien smiled.
In the upstairs music room, Seth had just finished playing through the piano
sceatch.
Ryo truned from the windows. "If I joined the Temphors..."
Seth didn't look up from from the music sheets "- They would welcome you. With
your skills you'd jump to the top right away." He pointed out a bar of music
to Sabyien, "....You see there? That's giving me a bit of trouble."
Saby looked at it and then smiled to Ryo. "Why do you want to join the
Temphors?"
"I just don't want to be helpless on my own that's all." Ryo shurgged.
"Your not that helpless. Don't you remember? You've got defences, your own
powers and abilities...you just need a bit of training."
"That's why I've been thinking about joining the Temphors, I could get my
training there....maybe along with Jenga."
Seth looked up from his music. "Are you sure Ryo? It will be very difficult.
Training to be a knight is hard work."
"I know. But its something I want to do. I want to be stronger like you two,
To be able to stand on the mountain... along side both of you." He gave a self-
uncertain look then covered it with a smile.
"Alright. You'll have to talk to michael about it, Though Rapheal has the
final say he does hold the control of the army." seth said furrowing his brow
trying to re-re-write the section, ryo walked over antd looked at it. "Ummm
why not try an F sharp?" he gave a shrug. "It seems random enough."
Seth looked at it and gave the suggested note a try, it didn't work but it was
close. he continued to write.
The saint walked out onto the balcony of the room he was given, he looked up
at the stars. "Mum... Dad... was this the future you saw for me? A double
marriage to a vamire and an angel. A Gay marriage at that. Are you alright
with this?" he looked up at the stars in the blue black sky, his eyes became
transfixed on a single point in the sky. He Cried out in pure fear. "SABYIEN!"
Both Seth and Sabyien looked up, Sabyien jumped up and ran to Ryo's side "What
is it?" Ryo as pale as a sheet, he was looking out the window, trembling. He
pointed out the window. Sabyien looked where he pointing, but he saw
noting. "Ryo what..."
HIs knees gave out from under him, Sabyien cuaght Ryo before he hit the
floor. "Ryo?"
The vampire was looking out the window too. "What is it? What do you see Ryo?"
"There! Right there!" He pointed to an empty section of space. "Its the... The
end!" He screamed pointing up. Slowly an image appeared in the sky of the
judge seth and sabyien could see it clearly now. the voice began to recite the
message of destruction.
'In two days the world shall end. the corruption shall be pulled from it. I am
the creator, The destroyer, The beginning and the end. The verdict for earth:
Death by purgance.'
The visage faded away.
Sabyien was shaking inside. No this could not be happening...not
again. "DAMMN!"
he yelled. Ryo could feel him shaking and murmering softly to himself, "Shena
mata-kun...namisan....namisan...namisan-kana."
The vampire was more conseened aboutt he state of his partners, but he didn't
know what to do. "Saby...?" The guardian looked up at Seth, a horrible
knolodge dawning in his eyes.
"Seth, I must battle Fate once again..." He was overcome with desipar, this
was fight that he knew he could never win.
