Oscar night 1954.
William Holden proudly shows his  Oscar for Best Actor in a leading role for his  appearence in Billy Wilder's black comedy " Stalag 17"
Due to the fact that the show was sponsored  by Oldsmobile and to allow more  commercial to be inserted, the acceptance speeches were cut to a minimum, and he later protested that he could not even thank Billy Wilder for having offered him the opportunity. not only to kill off his *Nice Willie* image but to demonstrate for the second time how talented and serious an actor he was.
His performances in the two Wilder's films, 1950 Sunset Boulevard and 1953 Stalag 17 enshrined Holden for several years in succession as one of of Hollywood's most sought-after actors
Holden would work again with Wilder in 1954 in the delightful comedy"Sabrina" opposite the 1953 oscar winner for best actress, Audrey Hepburn.
