Last film Holden  starred in before going to war, it a  top notch comedy, with good performances by  the four leads. Robert Benchley though, steal the show.
Perfectly charming Hollywood comedy with young Holden in top  form and good supporting cast.

Timid  saylor Casey Kirby (Holden) is tricked  into a bet by a shipmate- to have a beautiful but icy nightclub singer (Lamour) kiss him while on leave. The film is flat and  the only redeeming quality is the presence of Betty Hutton in her screen debut. Holden is colorless in this one.

Friends Holden and Ford are rivals for the affections  of Claire Trevor in this lively, action- jammed  Western pitting cattleman against cattle rustler in the sprawling  Texas landscapes. It might have been an epic, but a cost-conscious production kept a tight rein. It is still a very good film.
