Chris and I attended my girlfriend's wedding in September of 2001.  Petra is also German and her husband is Persian.  It was a beautiful wedding and very different to standard weddings in the US.  The first part of the ceremony was held in Persian and Petra had to say "yes" in Persian without exactly knowing when it was her turn to do so.  She mastered it perfectly though!  And if you have never gone to a Persian wedding, make sure that you show up late and that you munch out on appetizers that they serve ahead of time.  Dinner will be served very late!  And also wear comfortable shoes if you like to dance.  

As I mentioned above, I should have worn comfortable shoes.  Not that I wanted to dance (I don't know how to dance Persian dances), but I wanted to look taller in my 4 inch heels next to Chris who is 6'5' tall.
