Something
Whether clever or sad or unspeakably--joy--
Whatever
It does mean something
Something

The poem means
Something
So it is only nothingless nothing
But not nothing
To the heart and soul of hills and mountains
Oh, I haven't a love in the world
Because
I hardly need one now
In the spread of light
My face dances
My eyes tremble
My mouth can spin
and sing
and pirouette
In the lamplight
My heart shines like sun on icelight
Greens streets and brown gardens
Poetry is like swanwings dancing
and
Cat feet beating
Silent footfalls on the carpeted mantels where
They thread between old photographs
That
Fade grey, fade brown
And poetry means nothing, means something, means
Everything
And hardly anything at all
And sunless sunning are the cats on the carpeted mantels
Between old photographs
So poetry is just pretty nonsense words
And they are easier to understand
Than half-mad dreaming
