Mad Eyes and All the Lot

"Have you ever seen a pirate, Mr. Matthews?"

"Sure I've done, plenty of times. Filthy bastards. Look--they'll wear red kerchiefs in their hair, and rings and tattoos, in their ears and about their hands. Just like us, you'll say. You'd better believe they're not! They look a damn sight near to having just crept out of hell, they do. Mad eyes and all the lot. If we ever see pirates, you trust our Captain Hornblower'll take care of 'em sharp--but just the same, you'd best be afraid. Never you get cocky about pirates, lad."

"No, sir!"

"Good lad."
