Secrets

Creeping out of Belgium to England, in an effort to get back to France, Monsieur and Madame Thnardier were constantly on the alert. In England, it was necessary to take a roundabout way, and Monsieur was quick to go to the cheapest and obscurest inn in Burdock.

Before they left, Monsieur captured the books. He called it revenge, and Madame didn't argue. The service was bad.
