OUR CONSTITUTION
The Church of God International Winnipeg (CGI Winnipeg) is a
non-denominational full gospel church, in accordance with the New Testament
name for the assembly of Christian believers. The CGI Winnipeg,
is a human organization comprised of members of Jesus Christ's own spiritual church and
faithful, so far as human frailty permits, to Christ's example, teachings and
directives as recorded in the Word of God, the Bible and further clarified by
the influence of the Holy Spirit of God in the context of the modern world.
We, as a body of
believers, have deliberately attempted to get back to the faith and character
of the early Christian church founded by Jesus Christ and we continue to strive for the
message once delivered to the saints, (JUDE VERSE 3). Therefore, it is our duty, joy
and responsibility to proclaim the entire gospel message of Jesus Christ (MARK 16:15-16) to His faithful servants. The CGI Winnipeg, strives to extend the knowledge of the Bible by
all available means, which includes preaching and teaching, for the
propagation of the Christian faith.
The
CGI Winnipeg, recognizes the seventh day of the week
which on our calendar is Saturday; as being the Sabbath
as our Creator made it so from the dawn of creation (GENESIS 2:2-3).
HOLY DAYS
As a spiritual family in Christ we abstain from the traditions of men which include Easter and Christmas, knowing them
to be pagan in origin and a perversion of actual events in the Bible.
Instead, we observe the holy days and feasts laid out in the Old Testament by
God and followed by Jesus Christ. Since God's laws were not nailed to the cross (in other words
done away with), they still apply today and are for all mankind to observe
not just the Jews (LEVITICUS 23:4). They are as follows: Passover, the Feast of Unleavened Bread, Pentecost, the Feast of
Trumpets, the Day of Atonement, the Feast of Tabernacles, and the
Last Great Day. See our events calendar for a
complete list of dates for the Holy Days
REPENTANCE AND BAPTISM
Jesus Christ, who was none other then God in
the flesh, came to take on the world's sins; our sins, that we may have
eternal life through his death (JOHN 3:16). When we repent
of our sins, accept Jesus as our savior and are then completely submersed under the
waters of baptism, we become a new creature in Christ. The slate of our past life
has been washed clean. We have a new beginning. We receive God's Holy Spirit
by the laying on of hands, and are officially adopted into God's spiritual
family.
CHURCH AND THE SABBATH
The Sabbath is a holy convocation (LEVITICUS
23:3). We gather together to give glory, honor and praise to God our
heavenly Father through prayer, study of the scriptures and fellowship. The
church is not a building but a gathering of God's people regardless of whether
or not we meet in a building. The church is not for the righteous or
perfect person, but for the sinner. And none of us are perfect save one
and that is Christ.
OUR FOCUS
Our focus is on the Kingdom of God which
will be established here on earth once Christ returns. We do not go to heaven or hell upon
death. Those who are baptized and have God's Holy Spirit will receive
everlasting life, as spirit-born beings when Christ returns; those who do not
have God's Holy Spirit will be given their first real opportunity, as
physical human beings in the kingdom of God under Christ's ruler-ship.
We take up the cross each day (LUKE 9:23-24) and seek to become God-like in
character. We are constantly at battle with our carnal desires and Satan. We strive to overcome these
things and to run the race that is set before us (HEBREWS 12:1). Since
we as human beings were created in the image of God,
we are of great value to him. God wishes that none would perish if possible.
We reach out to one another proclaiming the gospel, guiding those who seek
answers in their life to God's truth in the spirit of love.
Feel free to join our fellowship next Sabbath.
Bring your friends and family for everyone is welcome. Come prepared &
ready to offer praise to our loving God. If you have additional questions or
