This page will be updated frequently, with details on developments and news of the Society. Latest additions at the bottom of the page.
25th Febuary 2005
No updates for a while.  We had an AGM for anyone who didn't come.  The committee positions were resorted because Jon's moved to London (He got a job!  Good Luck Jon!).  Nel is now the president, Manda is the secretary, Tom is the chairman, Edward is the treasurer and Beedle is the web adminstrator although this might change because he can't update it from uni.  Lig is the health and safety officer although now she is in Edinburgh (Good Luck Lig!).  Nel is in the process of applying for a grant for this year.  Hopefully we should get 500.  Also we are changing banks to Barclays 'cause the people are nicer... I think that's about it for now.

29th August 2004
The Society BBQ at Portland Bill became the Society Cook-Using-Normal-Cooker at Clive's-Parents'-Caravan-in-Wyke-Regis, due to some torrential rain at Portland which cleared up nicely just after we had left. D'oh! Still, fun was had by all who attended; Clive nearly broke his record of 12 sneezes in a row, Nel and Tom were being dodgy, Manda and Dan were being stealthily dodgy, Dennis did all the cooking (cheers!), Richard 'came out', Jon was revealed to be the only straight man present, the woman in the next caravan over kept giving us all dodgy looks, there was much debate (arguement) about Avril Lavigne, going to see The Village and opposable thumbs, Jon lost control of his bodily functions following a head massage from Manda, and Dan disappeared off to the toilet for a good ten minutes or so. Up for it again next year?!  :)

22nd June 2004
Dave, now not leaving as was previously thought, returns to the Committee as Society Bitch.

1st June 2004
Site hasn't been updated in a while, apart from the odd bit here and there, so Jonathan is now making an effort to bring things back up to speed. New application has been made for funding, however, it might have been sent in too late. Fingers crossed it wasn't.

4th September 2003
We all had fun in Clive, Dave and Tom's games. And at the end of these three new storytellers were elected; Richard (Were-ST), Biscuit and Edd. We've had two games to date and it seems to be going ok so far. (Also, Jonathan managed to send off the application for our funding early, isn't he clever?)

22nd August 2003
Jonathan's final game, and the conclusion of the long-running Dies Irae chronicle, took place. Unfortunately, it did culminate with the deaths of many characters, including such veterans as Paige 189, Sir Daniel Fortesque and Jemma. Still, the real world goes on, as does the Society; Dave, Clive and Tom now take over as Storytellers for a three-week stint before they head off to University. I hope everyone enjoyed the Dies Irae chronicle, but all good things, as they say, must come to an end.

1st August 2003
Funding was received at last! The money is now in the bank, and the Society is therefore no longer charging entry fee.

20th June 2003
Maiden Newton Masquerade Society celebrated its first anniversary, since the Society (in its present form) was set up on June 21st 2002. Although of course the Society has been around longer than that, this week marked its first full year in operation. Check out the special "Episode 27: A New Hope" page for more details.

28th April 2003
Application for a Council grant has been sent off. But we must still wait until the end of June to find out if our application has been successful or not.

19th April 2003
Chequebook for the Society account arrived. Society Rules page went onto the website.

15th April 2003
Dave Lewis officially replaced Charlotte Fleishmann on the Society Committee, taking on the new, yet demanding and important, role of Society Bitch. Our first QGM was held as well, during which many important (and many irrelevant) things were discussed regarding the current status, and the future, of the Society.

11th April 2003
Bank account for the Society was set up; this is the first real step towards our application for funding.

29th Januray 2003
Not really an update as such, but I just thought it necessary to thank all the members of the Society for making it what it is today. I am really pleased with the way it has gone, and the Society resembles now exactly what I always wanted it to be, and that is only as a result of the participation and, more importantly, the support of each and every member. Thank you all very much.

17th January 2003
We had a sudden influx of (four) new players for the Society at the game this week - although time will tell how much they liked it; we will see how many turn up next week! Due to this increase in membership, Nel was made our fourth Storyteller!

16th January 2003
Paperwork, including a certificate, came through confirming Maiden Newton Masquerade Society as officially being a Youth Organisation. Funding may however prove to still be a little tricky, however, as it apparently there are only three dates when such Organisations can be considered for funding, and the next one isn't until June. But I am on the case!

13th Januray 2003
A
pplication has been made to Dorset County Council to register as a Voluntary Youth Organisation, with the hope that it will lead to funding for the Society. In the meantime, we have had to begin charging for the games, at a cost of 1 per player per game, since our financial situation is a little less than solid. Jonathan has paid off (out of his own pocket!) the current debt for the Society's costs of hiring Maiden Newton's Youth Centre each week, so that we can start off with a clean slate.
