| NEW "FORTIFIED" POLICE HEADQUARTERS TO BE BUILT | |||||||||||||||||||
| Following the recent terrorist attacks on the Police of Maiden Newton and the subsequent devestating attack on the Station itself, which resulted in the loss of the bulding, and the lives of 17 police officers, Police Chief Armin Velderra has unveiled plans for a new, fortified Headquarters. Velderra said last night at a press conference, "I am confident that out new police building, and the tough new laws I am going to be enforcing, will make this city a much safer place to live." | |||||||||||||||||||

| TERRORIST CRIME WAVE TURNS CITY INTO GANG WARFARE CENTRAL | |||||||||||||||||||
| Open anarchy reigned supreme last night in the streets of Maiden Newton, as rival gangs and criminal organisations unleashed havoc across the city. Confirmed civillian casualties so far rank at almost 40, while many more have been left injured from gunfire and brutality. Riot Police, as well as Maiden Newton's recently appointed 'on-call SWAT teams', were at the scene and managed to subdue much of the chaos, although it was not until the early hours of the morning that the city returned to any form of normality. Speculation that crime boss Don Ciccioso was behind this terrible night's events are unfounded, although no arrests or victims have been traced to him or his organisation. Police Chief Armin Velderra was unavailable for comment. | |||||||||||||||||||

| MASS EXIT OF CITY POPULATION MAJORITY | |||||||||||||||||||
| After the terrible crime waves, murders, riots and terrorist activity within Maiden Newton over the past few months, today's real estate market awoke this morning to find that, in the last week (and particularly since the terrible events of Friday night), more than 65% of the city's population have put their properties up for sale, or have otherwise left the city or are making preperations to do so. With the wealth of the city lying in its industrial monopolies, this new turn of events will either sink the city, or attract many more members of the working class to its falling property rates. | |||||||||||||||||||

| CORPORATION PLANS TO SAVE CITY OF THE DAMNED | |||||||||||||||||||
| With the population still plumetting, causing local businesses to suffer or even close, Maiden Newton - dubbed 'The City of the Damned' - looks like it is on the brink of total anarchy. However, the Quicksilver corporation has stepped in, with a massive 10.4m venture to transform the city into a Maiden Newton that will be even better and more affluent and appealing than it has ever been in the past. Masterminding this venture is Hans Helweg, who said at a press conference last night that "now is the time to seize this wild city by the reigns and guide it into a new and wondeful era of prosperity." Of course, following recent terrorist attacks against the corporation's Maiden Newton headquarters, and the accusations of links between Quicksilver and the drugs CSD and Jangle, the proposed new initiatives for the rejuvenation of the city won't hurt in improving public relations and the corporation's reputation either. | |||||||||||||||||||
