Twine

Two strands, irrevocably intertwined
No longer a unity, but still woven together
A braid that still seems fused
I suppose part of me still abides with you
Yet another thread appears in the tapestry
And a new weaving seems imminent
You rejoice and treat it in a cavalier manner
Ignoring the possible fraying it could cause me
The time is short -- too short for creation
Of a braid that's truly strong
And the weaver has told you himself
The twining eternal has yet to begin
