1. Hello! There is almost ten years from death metal attack by E.C.Ts Pendant of blood 1994 and almost year from Revolution-ep 2002. What has happened after Revolution release?
Jarno: Basic stuff like promoting ourselves to record companies and playing some kick ass gigs.
Markus: After revolution, we have had three gigs in Turku - and our promotion of our cd's didn't really start the Revolution in the
magnitude we had hoped for, so we went back to our cave and came up with new material and are preparing now for another attack.
Oku: the armageddon is gettin´ nearer....and thats a good thing
2. is there some new material coming up and what kind of?
Oku: We just game out from studio, we recorded the new e.c.t. stuff, its slower (4 my taste), darker, true e.c.t. brainbustin truthserum
Jarno: Yeah, We have just finished recording our ground breaking, out of boundaries, tougher than satan demo. Allthough it doesn't have name yet.
Markus: We went in with the idea this time to record only in the studio. So we had two recording days, and all of the post-production  will be done by us. Actually, Timppa will do all of the work. But we have done this studio-process so many times, that now it will definetly sound like e.c.t. with all the sound engineering, mixing, mastering etc. done with time and by us just the way we want. One thing was that we noticed with the 'Revolution' mastering process, that we paid someone to do basically a really simple thing with Wavelab, and it came out not-so-good-as-it-could-have-been compared to the unmastered version. So now three of us have Wavelab on our machines and we have even been "mastering" and fucking around with    our MD-recordings from rehearsals... Also, Timppa is quite a player with the recording/mixing software as he has been doing that stuff with his other band in Bulgaria now for two years. Ok, I think the question was about new material.. The new material is pretty diverse, I think by far the most different sounding of our recordings. Some of the songs start off with blastbeat and end in venom-solos and some just POUND ON in heavy 80's style almost. Also mid-tempo basic-e.c.t-äijä-metal-stuff and one a bit faster and melodic, and one a bit slower. then there's even one that could be classified as a repulsion tribute song.. With the guitars there are different combinations from 3-6 on each song, so they will be different sounding also 'guitar-wise'. We selected 3 to be on the promo version and all 6 will be on the 'for sale' version. We will have the same policy with
mp3's as always, everything will be available from www.ect.fi
3. I find out from your website that E.C.T has played around 30 gigs in Finland. Is E.C.T especially live band?
Jarno: Hell yeah! To really feel the explosion of the six man assault one must see us playing live.
Markus: Yeah, well, we do kick ass live. I think that was written around three years ago, so the number must be around 35-40 now. But that isn't that much for 14 years.. So maybe it tells something about the metal scene in Turku/Finland... Also, around '89-'94 we did a lot more shows than nowadays.. I think we played so many times in Cafe Noir ten years ago, that we promised ourselves not to play there again... We like playing live of course, and in my opinion, we do a good job. I have especially enjoed our six-man assault gigs with all three guitarists. The last gig in may was with the 5 of us as Timppa is studying in
bulgaria now. But this december, it will be E.C.T. six-man assault live somewhere, probably Turku, if all goes as planned...
Oku: cause the miles between members, even the practices are hard sometimes, but we try to play as often as possible live
4.
There are themes in E.C.T records: in 1666-a new dawn -cd, you defined new genre: Satan Rock. In time of Revolution-ep there is statement against djs, make-up, scratches, operas and so on. Now nu-metal  is going down and   death  is coming back to front. Is this the right way?
Oj: In my opinion, those statements are about E.C.T.'s current style and direction rather than attacking or dissing nu-metal and
bands and gimmicks like that. If you listen to our riffs, you will notice that there might even be room for scratches or opera or
whatever, but the point is that E.C.T. doesn't do that.
Oku: hail death, fuck nu-metal shit playin ass kissin  fuckers
Jarno: I don't know what to say.. I just don't give a fuck what kind of music is popular or popularity doesn't shape my taste. So it's pretty much same to me whether death is on top or nu-metal. People are free to listen shit..
5. Should there be more good old black/grind/trash/death metal instead of that music-tv-metal?
Oj: Yeah, I guess there could be more room for those old school bands. Also, these new old school bands should really kick ass alot, for people to  get into them.
Markus: I don't think music-tv-metal is even metal, it's just mainstream  with metal influences.
Oku: I wipe my ass with that mtv-metal scene, wheres death, mayhem, destruction, satan from mtv??!
6. You can hear the real playing from E.C.T  music, is it important and  do you use so called studio live as recording method? How do you work in studio?
Oj: We don't use studio live. We've always recorded the drums first and then everything on top of that. Usually our promos/CD:s have had quite a lot of songs on them, and there has always been a limited amount of studio time - so we have been forced to make compromises on some takes.
Jarno: We don't do that shit. Our method is to do it starting with drums, because you can't have the hellish rhythm without the hellish beat. One by one we play after that, but no studio live shit.
Markus: E.C.T. will always be a players band. No drum machines or samplers, etc. We got pretty much routine in our playing, especially with me and O.J., I mean we have played together for 14 years, so you can imagine that we dont have problems in that department.. Working in the studio is always fun, it's just that time is limited. I mean Iwould love to record something with the luxury of studiotime.
Oku: studiolive will be on the next e.c.t studio happenin. The boys
play and I get the last run (leftovers)
7. Is there any bands or band projects around by E.C.T members?
Jarno: I don't, but maybe some have..
Oj: Markus, Oku and me had a grind/hardcore project in the early 90's. And nowadays we are trying to get a few gigs sometime with a Suicidal Tendencies cover project with the three of us and Len Hellkill from Hellbox on Drums & Vesku from Ben's Diapers on bass. Maybe there will be a ST tribute gig somewhere sometime. We have even had a few rehearsals..
Oku: there´s a SUICIDAL TENDENCIES cover project
Markus: And Timppa is in a metal band in bulgaria called Fyeld. He does programming/additional guitar in it. They got an album out earlier this year and they are doing pretty good down there.. Yeah and O.J. plays guitar in the ST project, by the way. And anyone out there who want's to book our ST cover band for a gig can contact us at [email protected]
8. Was it more fun to be a metalhead when E.C.T started 1989 or is the same flame still burning?
Oj: Flame is still burning . . .
Markus: Heavy Metal rules. Back in July '89 we were checking out Suicidal Tendencies and Anthrax with Oku and O.J. in Hameenlinna Giants of rock. This june, we were checking out Anthrax in nosturi with O.J. - so, what has changed?
Oku: It was fun back then, nowadays tha boys are gettin' older & slow but the beats go on and on till the judgement day
Jarno: As if I fucking knew. I was nine years old then and listened stuff like Bogart Co. Maybe my interest in heavy heavy metal started some years after that.
