Choose a time of year and describe how it looks and feels to you.

Winter in Alaska pronounced its coming with the nipping wind and a cold forefront. Trees shudder as the cold wind drives by, dropping the fresh snow on the barren earth. Snow shifts in the distance and a snow rabbit scurries away, leaving a trace. Little life is shown but a small bud is sprouting out of the white, a promise that spring will come. Winter signals cold, but in Alaska we welcome the season.

Failing a Test

To my kind and understanding parents,
I didnt mean to fail the test, it just sort of happened. True, I could have studied little more, or done my homework more thouroughly, but I didnt feel like wasting my time on that sort of thing. I think that highschool students have enough to worry about. But again, Im sorry and for the next test I will study harder and put forth a better effort to try and bring up my grade.
Teacher,
I understand that failing my test is not acceptable by your standards, but you see I did try technically speaking. I tried my best but all in all we both know I could have put in a little more effort. Of course my homework grades arent that great but it doesnt mean that I didnt try. In the future I will work harder and try to study more during my free time to prepare for the test.
Dear Friend,
Gee wiz, did you have to take that test fourth period?? It was so hard. I kind of just breezed through the whole thing, I didnt really understand it anyways. So yah, I ended up failing it, but I can always do better on the next test. Maybe we could study together next time so I can actually understand what the teacher is talking about constantly.

How is pride like a donut?

Pride can be known as a sense of self-respect, but if you have too much pride someone can be seen as arrogant or a bragger. The circular form of the ring can be related to a donut. The pride cycle is: you are humble, you get money or something really good, take it for granted, get prideful, then humble yourself, repeat. The circular form of the ring can be related to a donut. A donut can be like pride, if you have too much pride your life can become flaky. If you have just enough pride it is like the sweet glaze on the donut, you become a sweet person to be around instead of the stern and cold center of the donut.

How many ways can a person be beautiful? Is there a standard of beauty all people can agree upon?
There are several ways in which an individual an be beautiful. There is the beautiful physical appearance, beauty on the inside, a beautiful mind, and other specialties inside most people. I dont believe that there is a standard of beauty that most people can go by. Some people find a beautiful personality special, others rely on the physical beauty of an individual. For the most part, people have different opinion and standards of what they find beautiful on the inside and out.

How is a clock like the bubonic plague?

Although these terms dont seem like they have any relevance to one another, we can actually compare them in several ways. When talking about the time on a clock, the more it ticks, the more time goes by. The same thing happens with the Bubonic plague, the more time that goes by, the worse it gets and the more people die. In actuality you cant turn back time. The same thing goes for the Bubonic Plague, once an individual obtains the horrible and destructive disease of the Bubonic Plague, it is there to stay and wont go away until you die. These are some of the ways in which the Bubonic Plague is similar to a clock.

How is a window like opportunity?

Although it seems that a window and opportunity cannot be even closely related, they can actually be found similar in several ways. There is an old saying which states when a door closes, a window is opened. This quote can imply that a window being opened is similar to a new opportunity waiting for someone to open it up. Another example is quite simple: a window brings light into  a room, opportunity brings a new step that a person can decide to take.

If you had a time machine, what places or people would you choose to visit?

If I had a time machine I would want to go back in time to the old west and buy a lot of land because it was cheaper then. I would also like to go back in time and go to New York so I could see the city while the twin towers still stood. Instead of learning about history, it would be cool to go back in time and actually experience and watch what occurred so I could get a first hand account. I might also like to go into future 50-years ahead to see what advances had been made and what people get to experience because then I could go back to my real time and paten an idea or invention before it was made. This also might be helpful because I could warn people of what was to come and help solve problems to prevent future disasters. By going in the future I could also find out what happened to my family and myself, or I could also see what the outcome of decisions in my real time would be and what their consequences would have on future generations.

How is memory like a river?

Memory can be compared to a river when we talk about how they come about. Memories come in a flow of thought, just as a river moves with a flowing motion. Sometimes memories feed off one another and we start to think of another memory, this is similar to a river splitting into new channels and streams. Both memories and rivers begin with one and break into different areas. Some memories are good, while some are bad memories, rivers can be in a rocky and dry area, or a tropical and wet area. This is how memories can be like a river.
