Upgrading your stereo can be a daunting task. Hopefuly, after reading this article you should be able to make a firm decision on your choice of equipment for the type of car you have. There is a huge difference between what you want and what your pockets are trying to tell you. "Your mission should you decide to accept it Jim", is to get the best bang for the buck. There are numerous sources to
get your equipment from. You can try your local dealer/install
shop, or you can go shopping in an area like Canal Street here in New
York, where everyone is competing for your business. You can use
this as a negotiating tool but you don't want to negotiate just to leave
a down payment (all flash and no cash, if you know what I mean). Another
source is buying online. Most companies selling merchandise in e-stores
offer discounted prices since their overhead cost is at a minimum. Depending
on the location of your purchase you may avoid paying taxes, some e-stores
even offer free shipping as an incentive to entice buyers. There's
only one disadvantage buying from an e-store, if the equipment is gets
damaged you can't walk back to the store to exchange it and driving
around with no sounds for a couple of days is NOTcool! I've decided to add one more source
for you. If you have the patience you can try bidding in an auction
like ebay. You can choose between new and used name brands. Of
course, there's always the risk of not getting what you paid for. If
you decide to take this route, buy from someone that has a good rating
and good customer feedback to lessen your risk factor. Bidding
in an auction can be exciting but set your limits on the amount you
are willing to pay for an item. When you get the bid fever it
can sometimes get out of control believe me..... I KNOW. What will work for your car? This depends on what your goal is. The most basic upgrade is to replace those tired factory speakers for better ones of equal dimensions using the same wiring "plug and play" if you will. Here at the Zen we do things different,
we are extreemists. We will cover the install techniques that
will be used on project '88 and '90 convertibles also a rare Beryl Green
91 SPG. Although, both convertibles are same different budgets are set
on the equipment. Both will have quality brands and one will even
have a DVD player installed. Here's a look at things to come.... |
