=remenow1 Readme doc 6 May '05 -- This is the overall Readme doc for ( ===DVD15 + ===DVD16 ) 6 May '05 -- hod sh'b' GVURAH -- 27 NIsaN -- 26 Rabia al awal Steve Amdur, Campra, CH-6718 Olivone, Switzerland sa73122@yahoo.com www.geocities.com/sa73122 www.geocities.com/sa73122a www.geocities.com/sa73122b www.geocities.com/sa73122c Yahoo Briefcase: AdobetoZenith (Adobe , not Abode) Password: CarwashCharlie (case-sensitive) Primary Folder: PVsa0412 or something like that I hope all is well with all in the Abode__Zenith Family, and that everyone's work is going well, and that everyone is looking out that nobody is getting lost, and that peronality conflicts are kept within the bounds of good manners. As Oscar Wilde remarked, "Manners are much more important than morals." The land of Israel was occupied by successive imperialists for about 2000 years, starting with the Romans. The Romans built many bridges. It is important that bridges remain passable. It is said that when the Roman general conquered Masada, the last holdout of ultra_religious__ultra_nationalists extremists, and found that the defenders had committed group suicide rather than see their wives and daughters sold into prostitution and worse, he dispensed with the customary saluation to the Roman Senate, "I amd my army are well." That was long ago but so was Jesus. It is a cold spring day at Campra. A fox or little wolf comes to my shack to eat whatever I throw out. At the Abode they used to have signs -- No Hunting; this land is a sanctuary for all living beings. At the West Jerusalem YMCA there is a quotation from its dedication by Lord Allenby, that says, in effect, Here is a place where all personal and national rivalries can be set aside, and people dwell together in peace. So too the land of Switzerland is neutral teritory, and within that, Camp Zenith. In Lugano by the lakeside, tulips were still in bloom, some of incredibly delicate hues. The public swimming float across from the Grand Hotel Splendide is open now; they rent suits and towels, or used to. ---------------------------------------------------------------- So what we got us here is as follows: This is two DVD's, DVD15 and DVD16 . Between the two they collect just about all I've got of PVK material to date. However, the Audio Input is presented here only in the format of Ogg Vorbis. I think you can play Ogg Vorbis using WINAMP, but if anyone who knows what they're doing can't do it, tell me, and I can go back to MP3 format. Once again: I'm inputting tapes using AUDACITY , from www.sourceforge.net , inputting at 44100 Hz at 32-bit . If anyone can tell me how to get smaller saved files without noticeably losing quality -- the benchmark should be PVK's pronounciation of wazifas -- please tell me. I'm inputting using a Phillips 2-cassette player, Zenith should really get a 2-deck tape-deck, which costs SF 500. When I input I simultaneously make a backup copy of the Master, on a TDK-I . The Master can then be put away and played only in emergencies. Someone once said to me: But PVK says the same thing every week, only the attunement changes. No; on most tapes I hear something I had not heard before. Refinements of conceptualization, clarifications of conceptual linkage, passing suggestions for ways to get through life a bit less stressfully, quasi-scientific insights or speculations some of which may sometime be seen to have been of great importance, et. al. (Though I think I can't perceive attunements: and also, if I hear one more chargall practice I will be tempted to put carrots in my ears, rather than in the pot of brown rice. Or anyhow prior to.) So ok, rev her up again and let's go over the hill: What we got us here is: DVD15: \z99ogg -- The audo files Save-As 'd in Ogg Vorbis format, from Zenith 1999 - \textetal -- Whatever *.txt files I found -- this includdes a few transciptions I did of the 1970s tapes, but is mostly readme docs. \SufiInfo -- this is, I hope, a useable copy of an HIK/PVK CD . The copy I have comes from Shahabudin (unerring@aol.com) via Katrina (katesalah@yahoo.com) It seems to be a copy of the SO Seattle HIK CD , plus a somewhat large but apparently continuous bunch of PVK transcriptions, Abode early 80's if I recall -- maybe froma single Abode Camp -- I detailed it in a =pvkinv* doc I dashed off November '04. \pvkh99og -- Again, only in Ogg Vorbis format, though I do have the other formats on this Campra computer, and sent a set to D. Tide for S. Gebel c/o the Abode, and also to ZR Suresenes. This is the PVK Holland seminar, English only, 3 days only, February 1999. \oldstev1 -- This is my collected transcriptions, incluidng Flying Edits and notes for most of the transriptions, (which the Vanzetti's saved for me when I was off-line for the first three years of the Millenium. I suppose I found it all a bit overwhelming; but again, it does point out the need to strenghten Zenith Ground Control; and again, I suggest a system of interlocking triads, such that each person undertakes to keep in touch with two persons, each of whom take responsibility for keeping in touching with 2 persons only 1 of whom is in the original triad. "Or something." Sharif Graham once remarked that a Guide will do anything necessary for his/her mureeds. That does seem a good watchword, although of course one should not go overboard after it. ) \oldoggs -- Ogg Vorbis Save-As 's of tapes I input Autumn '04. Those were a small bunch of Abode Tapes that I happened to have held onto throughout my voyages. Mostly SO USA Tape-of-the-Month og I recall, though a few from Abode seminars. This is a very interesting period in PVK's career, because he was more discursive then. It is my present impression that his essential teachings changed surprisingly little in the past few decades. That does not include his earlierst years of teaching, which I have not yet heard. It is almost as if he had attained a definitive realization more or less at the start of his teaching career. Well, I suppose if one once breaks through to the sphere of Truth, one won't be making many additions or changes to what one has to say. PVK once remarked, Zenith Camp, maybe ca. 1966, "When I make a retreat it is for you" (ie for the Camp-students and mureeds, and not for himself). He did a retreat at Zenith Camp in the year to which I am referring. Jody (Djoti) McLaughlen tried to transcribe a tape he made during that retreat, but found it nearly inaudible and I think gave up on trying. So ok, that's DVD15. Now for DVD16 -- This is the 4 boxes of tapes I took from the Walia Collection -- on Easter Sunday if I recall. Those are detained in =pvinvwa.txt They are: \w37oggs -- This is 8 tapes only of the 1989 Leaders' Week. Clearly it is only part of the tapes of that Week, not all of them. It is; Tape Pir A, 25 July 1989, Questions and Answers: 11A, Tape 11 -- Thursday 27 July 1989 and Friday 28 July 1989 Tape 11A, Sama Thrusday Evening 27 July õ989, Tape 12, 28 July '89 Tape 13, 28 July '89 Tape 14, 28 July '89 Cosmic Celebration, 29 July '89, 2 tapes. \w10oggs -- Tapes 1--10 of Zenith 1990 English-only week, from Monday 8 July 1990 Early Morning (EM), through Thursday 12 July 1990 Early Morning. See Notes to Box w03. \w03oggs -- Box W03 of the Walia Collection. See notes to w05, below. This is the 2nd half of Zenith 1990 English-only Week. This box is Tapes 11 through 20, Thursday 12 July 1990 AM through Cosmic Celebration, Saturday 14 July 1990 (Bastille Day, may that prison in Baghdad crumble into dust now). \w05oggs -- Box W05 is 10 tapes, comprising the lst half only of the 1990 Leaders' Week, tri-linguat (English as primary language, followed by translations by PVK into French and then German ) I do not find the 2nd half of that week in the Walia Collection. This is Monday 23 July 1990 through Wednesday AM 25 July 1990. All tapes are in good condition, no hiss nor other problems that I noticed. A number of the lectures are very strong, and would make good standalone MP3s. I present them here only in Ogg Vorbis format, but I have also Save-As 'd them in MP3 and in the origianl Audacity. Ogg Vorbis can be imported back into Audacity, for editting etc. Ogg Vorbis is said by Audacity to be about as good as MP3, "and getting better". It is about 2/3 the size of MP3, and MP3 is about one-tenth the size of the original (ie, uncompressed) Audacity, which is open-source shareare, or its Microsoft analogue, WAV . The Leaders' Week tapes are mostly instructions in meditation, on I would say an intermediate level -- more complex than the routines given at hoi polloi weeks. Although they are tri_lingual, they are not simplistic; I heard many points which I had not heard in hoi polloi lectures. I started taking longhand notes on these tapes by about Box W03. That's pretty frustrating, maybe my hands are getting stiff. By Box W05 I had dared to put a DOS Einstein Window (under Windows Professional 2000) on screen while the Audacity input was running, and since my typing speed is around commerical grade -- maybe 70 wpm, not counting errors -- I was almost able to get verbatim trnascription from noting English only on a trilingual tape. And was also able to Save those notes while the input was running without, I hope, disrupting anything. My notes are included in the \textetal subdir on these discs. That subdir is dupliced from DVD15 onto DVD16 OK, I think that wraps this up, cut and print. A clear cool spring day at Campra. The snow is slowly going from the upper part of the shadyside mountains that mark off this valley. With best wishes to all, as always Steve Amdur Z =================================================================
