"The responsibility that Yiddishkeit should last forever."

"An assimilated Jew is somone who doesn't care, that his childrenshould still be Jewish."

There are some stories that are so good, who cares if it is true.

Tehre are some things that are so good, someone wants to knockthem off. [[The notion of 'knock them off' recurs in R. Shlomo'sremarks about the vanities of the ostensibly religious world; asort of competitiveness of ascetic technocrats.--sa]]

The greatest miracle in the world is...that we Yidden are stillhere.

My father [[R. Dr. N. Carlebach]] had a Ph.d in philosphy, andalso in history...history changes, but the Torah is unchanaged --we are eternity.

"We can't change one letter." But on the other hand: "The Torahis the most open book in the world."

(Joke): "What is a rabbi? a combination of 2 words -- 'ra' -- heis bad -- but he gets by."

"The miracle of Chanuak is not just that the light lasts for 8days -- the miracle of Chanuakah is that Yiddishkeit and the Torahlasts forever" ... What do I want most -- that my children[descendents] shall be Jewish forever."

"The greatest pleasue for a Yid is ... being a Yid."

The Macabees prayed taht the oil should last forever ... "theywere crying all night .. let there be amiracle, that this lightshould last foreer."

Every Shuvuos I receive the Torah from heaven .. what I should dofor the next year.
(On Pesach we are cleansed from all our impurities.)[[imprecisesummary]]
"On Sukkos ... G-d surrounds me with love all the time, all thetime."

Every Purim G-d wipes out the anti-Semites of that generation.

"The Greeks wanted .. to take out the Jewish reflexes."
If you have to think, you're on the outside.

"The Tree of Knowlege is just knowlege -- it doesn't get inside. The Tree of Life -- I also know what's right and wrong (but I knowit as part of my nature) [paraphrase]

"You can not touch [hurt] children." [[This is perhaps R. Shlomo'sstrongest teaching: one must not hit children. It is the onething I have seen him get very angry about.--sa]]

"Rivka was by the water ... she was praying that on the 24th ofKislev they should find the oil."

Where did they find the oil ... in the part [of the Bet HaMikdash'of which tribe?

"The one pak shemen [jar of oil' which can bring all the Yiddentogether."

"The Cohanim are like a little nation of thier own."

"Messiah is .. .that the Toah reaches you so deeply."

"The more deep something is, the less you have to say it."
