RETYPING OF R. SHLOMO TEACHINGS FROM KOL CHEVRE, VOL. 3, #1,November 1996.

This contains only one excerpt from a tape/transcript by R.Shlomo: from Chukat, Tav Shin Nun (1990).

I don't know source; the only likely candidate I find listed isEW41, Rosh Hodesh Elul, Tav Shin Nun, Mishkanot. But that's about2 months too late for Chukat.
-----------------------------------------------------------------

You know sometimes I wake up in the morning and I really amtoo tired to put on tefillin, right. But how can I not, right. I'm so connected to it, right.
But this is not the deepest. The deepest, deepest depths is,I want to, with all my heart, all my heart.
You know what a dead person is? A dead person is somebodywho has to do it by force all the time. You know what is a deadJew? He might keep Shabbos. But dead is, that there is noneshama in it. Your neshama is not there. I don't want to do it,right.

Everybody is asking, why is Parshas Chukos arfter Korach? The answer is very simple. Do you know what it means to carry theAron [the Holy Ark]. You carry it, right.

Remember the Ishbitser says, if you carry something, it meansyou don't really want to do it with all your heart. So it's alike a little burden on you, right. What can I do? I have to doit. It's very holy.

Korach did everything the Torah says, but he did it becausehe has to. Mamash he ahs to.
Aharon HaKohen is something else. You know, if I dosomething because I have to, I cannot turn you onto it.

You know sometimes you meet a person who's doing something, but if they are not doing it with all their heart, it doesn't turnyou on. Whatever you do, and I don't even mean forcing myself, but anything which does not come from the deepest, mamash thedeepest, deepest depths of my heart, won't impress you.

	You know sometimes you walk into a shul and you see somebodydavining, you don't feel like davining,.  But you see somebodydavining with all their heart ... {ellipsis kc}.  You hear theAmshinover making a brahca ... Gevaldt!  It comes from thedeepest, deepest depths ... {ellipsis kc}

So here it says that Aharon HaKohen cannot have anything todo with dead people because it's mamash so bad for your neshama . Because Aharon Hakohen is the one that's giving over to Yidden toserve G_d from the deepest, deepest, deepest depths of theirbeing.

I want to say the difference between Aharon and Moshe is verysimple. Moshe gives us the Torah. We said, "Na'aseh V'nishma"[We will do and we will hear}. Kafah aleyhem har K'geegeet (G_dheld a mountain over our heads). Even if you don't want to, youhave to do it also. I have to keep Shabbos. I have to keep YomTov. So then I fall off because I didn't want to do it.

Whey is Aharon HaKohen the master of Teshuva. Nobody forcesme to do Teshuva. Teshuva is only if I want to do it. I can'tsay I force myself to do Teshuva. Then it's not Teshuva, right.

Teshuva is one thing. Unless it comes from the depeestdepths of the heart, it's not Teshuva, right. Aharon is themaster of teshuva. The deepest, deepest, deepest depths.

I want to tell you a gevaldt torah. YOu know what Korachthought ketoras (Incense) is all about? You take the bad smellingand you overpower it.
You know, you remember, the incense in the holy Temple, it'seleven spices. Ten smelled very good, and one was the mostawesome smell in the world. Terrible. But if you put ittogether, it smells good. So Korach was learning pshat, ten goodsmelling spices overpower the one. Take the chelbonna and knockit off.

But you know what the real truth is? They didn't overpowerit. The truth is, the chelbonna, makes the rest smell so muchbetter. You know what it is? The chelbonna, obviously, inside, inside, inside is a gevaldt good smell.

So there are some people who smell, without good friends. Andthere are some people who only begin to smell good when they havegood friends. So this chelbonna is this kind of spice, when itgets together with ten good friends, gevaldt does it smell good.

I'll tell you somether very, very deep. I'll tell yousomething awesome. If yiddishkeit is that you have to do it, thenmy children are Yidden because I taught them that they have to. That means, my children's Yiddishkeit comes from me, right. Becuase if I'm doing it beause I want to, and hopfully my childrenwill want it also, right. Then my children's Yiddishkeit doesn'tcome from me, it comes form them. They mamash want to do it. Maybe I have little hand that they should want to do it.

Korach thought that Shmuel is holy because he's hisgrandfather. Shmuel's children are only holy because of theirparents. Because their parents teach them.

I want you to know something awesome. All the rebbes say thesame thing. Eleh Toldos Yitschak be Avraham [These are thegenerations of Yitzhak, son of Avraham.) Yitzhak walked aroundand says, 'If I have one ounce of YHiddishkeit it's beause of myfather.' Avraham Holeed et Yitzhak [Avraham gives birth toYHitzhak]. Avraham walked around saying, 'If I have one ounce ofYiddishkeit, it's only because of my son, Yitzhak.'

I'm just tellling you this whole Trah. What is it to be ingalutz. What is an exile yid? Exile is, sadly enough I have toforce myself to do it. I'm doing it. And maybe I"m dong it withall my heart. But it does not come from the deepest, deepest, deepest depths of my heart.

I'll tell you something very simple. If I like a girl verymuch like this, I don't have the need to be alone with her. Butif I love her the most, I want to be alone with her.
If you love G_d from the deepest, deepest, deepest depths, you need a Bais HaMikdahsh. We need a house. To be alone withG_d.

I want you to know, nothing reaches deeper than water. If[hat v'shalom] you're hungry, you can live ... {ellipsis kc} Butwater, your body needs water the most. Water reaches the deepest, deepest, deepest, deepst...{ellipsis kc}.

So I want you to knwo something. Why is it that Yiddishkeitdepends on the mother? Because the woman has this power to reachthe deepest, deepest, deeper than man.

Why was the snake so eager to talk Chava into eating the Treeof Knowlege? Gevald, is he destroying the world ... {ellipsiskc}.
Listen, if Chava does everything because it's right or wrong, not from the depest, depeest depths of her being, it's the end ofthe world.

So Miriam ,our holy mother Miriam, she was supplying water. Moshe Rabbneu, Moshe Rabbneu is giving us the Torah. We have todo it. Aaron Hakohen , mamash I want to do it with my wholeheart. Miriam is mamash reaching the depest depths. Mamash thedeepest depths.
